Carpy-yes you can transfer to Abbey Direct issue 2, you have to phone them and get transfer forms, needless to say they wont contact you (surprise).
to anyone else thinking of going to Lloyd/Tsb, for the sake of .05% this would seem to be a better bet, not online thou. yes they accept transfers in.
  • I am a Lloyds customer and have £3,000 in Lloyds waiting to clear before I put it into an ISA and I have £6,000 in previous year's ISA's with Intelligent Finance. I also have a further £3,000 in a building society which I wish to put into next years ISA allowance. My wife has the same sums, the only difference is that she is not a Lloyds customer.

My idea is to open the Lloyd's ISA with the £3,000 when it clears, then transfer in the other two ISA's and after 6th April deposit a further £3,000.

Doing it this way, I will only get 5% interest until the old ISAs are transferred in. Any better ideas?

I've just phoned Lloyds TSB to apply for the fixed rate ISA. During the application I was asked for more personal information than I would expect to give when applying for a credit card or opening a new current account. In addition to the information that they needed to open the account and transfer the balance from my existing ISA, they wanted to know:
    • My job title, my employer's address, and how long I had worked there
    • My take-home pay, and if I am paid weekly or monthly
    • Whether my house is owned or rented, and my monthly mortgage payment
    • Who provides my home & contents insurance, when it's due for renewal, and did I want to get a quote from Lloyds TSB
They also warned me that they would do a credit search as part of the application process. You can only apply for this account by phone if you already have a Lloyds TSB current account, so they should have most of this information already. It is hard to believe that Lloyds TSB could increase the amount of junk mail that they send me, but it looks like they're going to give it their best shot.

We have opened one of these ISAs, but were told we had to go to the branch to do it. We are already customers so no credit check.

On the 26th Febuary I requested a transfer of my ISA from the Halifax to LTSB. One week later the wife transfered from Intelligent Finance to Alliance and Leicester. Both have said they have transfered the money to LTSB and the Alliance but still neither show up in the repective accounts. (By the way the 10% is only if you agree to hold ISA shares of the same value as the cash ISA)

Update... Money now in my Lloyds ISA from the partial transfer from the Halifax. 30 days from the date on my transfer form!! Now I wonder if I can add to the fixed ISA next tax year if I make lump sum payments to total £3600 throughout the year ?

I've concluded I am wasting my time waiting for Lloyds to do anything about this account.

I went into their branch three weeks ago to open the account and they haven't even contacted my existing provider to request a transfer. When I went to the branch on Saturday the "adviser" (I use the term in its broadest possible sense) who saw me three weeks ago was busy and would ring me back today.

Of course she hasn't. So I've made an appointment to see her this Saturday. Unless she can prove to me she's done something about my application, rather than use it as toilet paper, I'm withdrawing my application and going for the A&L one. I have not had dealings with them but I can't imagine they would be much worse that this bunch of retards.

Martin - please take this product off your recommended list. It's clear I am not in a minority in my views of LTSB's servicing of this product.

More or less a mirror of our experiences. My G/F & I both applied for this & it's nearly the seventh week since we both spent hours in (different) Lloyds branches applying. Neither of us has has a penny transferred yet. We've both had further visits to branches, countless phone calls & also two written letters.

Nearly 50 days & zero progress, other than a ton of stress trying to get these ****s to actually process a simple application.

If you do go to the branch, be prepared for an extremely frustrating experience. I've now dealt (in person) with 5 different people, none of whom have actually understood how ISAs work. The majority of the time is spent with me sitting opposite them in the branch while they type endlessly into their PC (just what are they typing....who knows?), shake their head, ring other parts of Lloyds (most of whom don't answer) & consult with other people in the branch, none of whom are any use either.

A quite stunningly bad service. Total abject failure to complete what should be the most straightforward of tasks. Truly horrible.

I, too, have just written to their CEO. Let's see if they bother to respond.

I will be cancelling my application and switching to A&L if they don't get back to me by Friday.
