rang up today about 17:45 to open my fixed rate. couldn't believe all the questions they ask even for an existing customer!!!

arranged a transfer of the whole of my Abbey Direct ISA (issue 1) as that rate has dropped right off with the fall of the BOE base rate.

lets hope the transfer process doesn't take too long. they said to me about interest being 'back-dated' so there is no loss of interest but we will see....

Surely stress is wondering where the next pound is coming from to feed and care for your family rather than fretting about twenty thousand pounds being "lost" for a few days.

£3,000 a year for a mini cash ISA. To save £24,000, you need 8 years.

I am sorry for your stress to look for the next pound to feed and care your family. How about I share with my savings with you?

A few days? Oh, well. One and a half month for you might be a few days.

Anyway, don't worry about our problem. Go look for your next pound. Don't waste time here.

I am going to look for my next pound. Very stressful indeed.

As long as they backdate the interest then I think its a fair deal...

With respect, that's garbage. If you or anyone else thinks it's that simple then you have no idea, no idea at all.

Anyone who dismisses what may or may not cause someone else stress, with ZERO understanding of that person's situation, is foolish indeed.

I have no stress at all chap, none at all. Stop for a second and consider how fortunate you are to be able to save. It will all work out OK and you will realise all the fuss you have made was indeed not required.

Good for you. And thanks for your concern.

I have to admit that I was thinking like you. It would work out OK. Indeed, LTSB was very efficient to open my ISA account less than 10 days. But after the account was opened almost a month, and you received the letter from your old ISA provider to confirm that your account was closed. Then another 4 weeks past. LTSB seems not to bother to tell you where your money is. I am not talking about charity. It is commercial. LTSB is doing business. We are their customers.

It might be a "fuss" for you. But not me and certainly not others who have the same problem like me.

Carpy-did you contact Abbey to see if you could transfer to Issue 2 (6.25%)?
