Just opened mine in branch. There was a token effort to sell me other things but as soon as I pointed out he was wasting his time he left and handed me over to a junior who just filled in the form on his pc, printed it out and I signed it. 15mins tops. The 12 months starts from the day the account is opened.
  • My current ISA is a 30 day notice ISA with Yorkshire Building Society, which I opened in a previous financial year.

Do I apply for the Lloyds ISA and inform them of the 30 day notice so they make the transfer after 30 days and they let YBS know, or do I send a letter to YBS informing them I am transferring or what? I am unsure of what to do and the order to do it in and dont want my money left not gaining interest.

Also I assume its best to push this through asap and transfer the new allowance once the Lloyds ISA is set up rather than wait for the new financial year and put the £3600 in YBS before the transfer.

    Clarification much appreciated

So you loose a month or more just waiting for the transfers. .:(
  • My first ISA transfer in just arrived. Left Kent Reliance 5th March, arrived yesterday 17th March. Will wait for the letter to tell me of the backdating of interest.

Still have another transfer from NS&I yet to show up yet. I got the letter from NS&I mid last week some time.
  • Just transfered my NS&I Direct ISA to LloydsTSB. Was straight forward as I already have a Lloyds account and prepared myself with the info needed by reading this forum.

Took less than 20 mins -there was mention towards the end of their stock/shares investment which adds a small % and its risk free but that money could earn nothing (stock market is a little yo-yo atm). I said no as I do need some savings with instant access which I have with Northern Rock (1 year 6.9% bond). Cashier's reaction was 'oh that wasn't good then' to which I added that its was a good rate, seems safe and in a year I've already got aside the 2009/2010 tax year allowance for my ISA ;)

Just hope it transfers across ok hopefully by mid-April  does take upto 30 days
I would normally have a cup of tea

Can take Lloyds up to a couple of weeks to request the money then the other party has up to 30 days to send the cheque, although normally a lot quicker....The speed wizards at Lloyds then take up to another 2 weeks to enter the money... so no real problem!! (you sometimes get the interest whilst Lloyds have the cheque !) I wonder if these banks have heard of electronic transferes!

I'm an existing Lloyds customer. Transfered from a Lloyds Mini Cash ISA to a new Lloyds Fixed Rate ISA. Opened the Fixed Rate account on 21 February and saw the balance in the new Fixed rate ISA on 14 March. Also received a letter on 15th saying added interest to cover the transfer period had been added.
