  • Hi Everyone,
I am new to the forum, and only joined because I am getting fed up with my Lloyds Tsb ISA. I opened it in April and still waiting for a transfer from Alliance and Leicester. Also did an other transfer in September, thats when my other Isa matured at BMW, but no luck, as still no sign of the funds.
Been down to the bank and talked to the senior banking manager several times (I lost count), tried phoning them, spent ages on the phone, they just try to fob me off with different phone nos, some of them doesnt even work!!! Even got the no for Scottish Widows! I am desperate, could someone advise me what to do next, as I have complained, and it turned out they lost the paperwork for the transfer  So I filled the tranfer request form in again, and the money has left my A & L account AND THEN GOT RETURNED TO IT AGAIN!!!!
Thanks for any advice on this!!!

Why not contact BBC Moneybox (or the columns of the financial press, where they take on readers complaints) ? I say this because it is remarkable how quickly results are produced by banks etc when they start to be featured in the media. They know they are goning to be reported so they suddenly 'find' that cheque - or expedite that paperwork - or stump up a generous offer of goodwill. At the moment it appears you are dragging treacle trying to get the banks to take you seriously (and there are always two to blame with ISA transfers)

I would also have suggested going to the Ombudsman - never mind the 'eight weeks' fiction - but they are pretty 'squat' too these days from all the work they get.

In the end the kind of resolution you get depends on how 'mad' you get with the offender and how determined you show yourself to be. How you've been treated is beneath contempt but you have to resolve to go for the jugular - since they have a lot of other lost customers and they aren't especially motivated to take notice of one.

Do you have a different Lloyds TSB within reasonable travelling distance of you?

I only ask because my local branch is brilliant - I opened a LTSB Isa in April and transferred several small isas with different providers. The manager who dealt with it even telephoned me at home to let me know each time one dropped into the account.

Clearly the service varies from branch to branch, so maybe another branch that is less busy might have the time to sort this out for you (mine is a very small branch)

Alternatively, what about contacting your local paper?

Hope you get this sorted out soon x
I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.
  • thank you for your replies!

I dont really want to go to an other branch, as the manager here is really helpful, but even she admits that they have not got the correct phone numbers to sort this out!! She has been dealing with my case for nearly 6 months now, it would take me over half an hour to expain everything to somebody different!

I will consider the other 2 options, as I am dreading to write an other letter explaining the whole mess!!!
So, thanks again, its really appreciated

You are not alone with LTSB.

I have also been waiting for a transfer from A&L since early March - which, I subsequently discovered, LTSB had returned to A&L.

I have gone through exactly the same frustrations where the local branch/regional management/CEO have been involved and my complaint has been with the Financial Ombudsman Service since August - still with no resolution to date, an arbitrator was appointed a few weeks ago.

The cause is one of several, according to the conflicting & non-factual excuses which have been offered by LTSB.

As far as I'm concerned the cause is almost certainly total ineptitude on the part of LTSB's ISA Centre. I didn't even know where my funds were from April until September, when I returned from an extended trip abroad to discover a letter from A&L acknowledging that the funds were back with them!

I just got one of those letters from A & L, I am just annoyed, because they have sent it to my old address, and it contained loads of information, like my NI no, my acc. no, my exact balance!

I would recommend this if you are stuck. I have just got £100 from Lloyds for their mess ups with my account. Plus I know they have been charged even more by FOS for the pleasure too! :p
