Phone the Citizens Advice Bureau (free of charge) their advice is. They can help by sending letters to credit card companies asking them to cut the interest on your cards. Their debt counsellors are brilliant and they have the back up of the name of the CAB behind them.
I was in a similar situation recently but things have changed (moved back in with mum and dad), etc. My husband left me and so was managing on 3 part-time jobs and paying out way too much. I know exactly how you feel. Just reach out, people will help. It will take time sweetheart but you will recover. God Bless.0 -
Natwest has just taken out another £35 bank charge on my account.:mad:0

Add it to the reclaims...
What part of 'can't repay' don't these people understand?
I think Jenny's idea of a letter from the CAB would be worth pursuing.Miggy

natwest have been doing the same to me! 2 months in a row now it's their charges and interest that have put me over my overdraft limit and incurring more charges! vicious cycle or what!! they are increasing my debt with them not reducing it! And they will still only get my payplan payment, no more!
I will be going after for them for charges soon but want to give my dmp a while to settle down! I'm beginning to really dislike Natwest!!!!
I've also had similar offers from MBNA! they asked if i wanted a loan! Er no thanks!!!!! However now I'm on my dmp they are one of the few who have confirmed acceptance and taken interest and charges off for 12 months!
Sorry I forget, are you going to a company for a dmp? or going it alone? I have to say from experience that putting it off doesn't seem to help and I'm glad I've swallowed my pride and am dealing with it properly now!
Good luck with it all!DMP Mutual Support Thread Member No 261Debt at start of DMP (Jan 2009) = 46,147.86 Now = 36,826.98DFD = [STRIKE]Jan 2014[/STRIKE] May 2013 ([strike]60[/strike] [STRIKE]52[/STRIKE] 41 payments to go)NSD:Nov 12/12:jDec 9/10 Jan 5/10Slowly but surely:coffee:0 -

Good luck Sporter. I know sometimes when you are dealing with banks that the one hand doesn't seem to acknowledge the other exists let alone talk to each other! Keep you chin up, at least with the interest rate cut you may be better off with your mortgage soon.Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)0

Received call from MBNA this morning wanting to know whether I am going to take the settlement route of £4,200. Said it hard to find the £95 per month much less the £4,200. Anyway they said either way they need to see where I am getting the money from. Is this correct? Do they need to know
I thought once they get their money, thats all they were interested in?
I want to write a letter to them, but have no idea how to start. Any help?

You do not need to provide them with a SOA or details of where you are getting the money from, but they also don't need to accept reduced payments on a debt. They could take it to court for a CCJ where a judge will decide what you should be paying.
You received a call from them - why are they discussing your account? Did you confirm security details? Have you informed them that all communication should be in writing only? After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

Dear SirsHarassment by telephone
Account Number: XXXXXXX
I am writing in relation to the quantity and frequency of telephone calls that I have received from your company, which I deem to be personally harassing.
I have verbally requested that these stop, but I am still receiving calls. (Delete if necessary)
I now require all further correspondence from your company to be made in writing only.
I am of the view that your continued harassment of me by telephone puts you in breach of Section 40 of the Administration of Justice Act 1970, and the Protection from Harassment Act 1997.
If you continue to harass me by telephone, you will also be in breach of the Communications Act (2003) s.127 and I will report you to OFCOM, Trading Standards and The Office of Fair Trading, meaning that you will be liable to a substantial fine.
Be advised that any further telephone calls from your company will be recorded. (**Even if you don‘t yet have recording equipment!!**)
