I'm new to this, please bear with me.
In debt with CCs. Need approx 20,000. Have cut down on everything, i.e. gas/electricity, food etc, so please dont ask for SOA. Cards all used up to limit, paying approx 400 per month on cards alone - minimum payments.
Really need a solution how to clear this debt. Cant sleep at nights. Feel sick all the time. Spoke to CCCs last week. Helpful, but dont want credit rating to get any worse than it already is. Whats the quickest way to start the ball rolling.
Please tell me what to do.
Thanks for your time.

Don't worry you are in the right place!

Hi and welcome - the first step is the hardest and you've taken that.
I'm not an expert and I'm sure lots will be along later to offer support and expert advice.
From my experience (you'll see from my sig we've got a huge amount of debt) is to get your SOA posted up so that others can give help in where to make savings etc. You coment 'please don't ask me to post my SOA' but unless you do we can't offer support. Often it takes a objective stranger to look at the figs and ID what can go, reduce etc.

Sporter, welcome to the DFW board, you have come to the right place for some advice.
I know you said don't ask, but without an SOA we cannot advise you, so if you feel up to it, a very basic one will do for now. Can you list your debts/APR's etc.
I know you have spoken to the CCCS, they are very helpful, I'm going to say the last thing you should be concerned about just now is your credit rating, you are feeling very low by the sounds of your post, you need help and you need it today.
Sporter, there are many many other people in a similar situation, you are not alone, and at the end of the day its only money, nothing is more precious than life itself, and we want to help you.
It can be very daunting posting an SOA, grab a mug of tea, or something slightly stronger, you will I promise, feel better for it.

Hi,
I know it all seems scary at the moment, but you are in exactly the right place, and have already started to make the first steps-working out how much you owe, to whom, cutting back where you can and contacting the CCCS are brilliant moves :T
When you are ready, it would be really helpful if you could post at least the amounts you owe on the cards, and what the interest rates are, and then we can give some practical advice. Your SOA would be good too, but some people prefer not to post one-it's up to you, but the more you post, the better the advice will be.

Money is NEVER worth committing suicide over. The people you leave behind would be devastated by it. If you are feeling so low that you are contemplating this, then please please do one of two things either phone
www.samaritans.org and just vent to them
or else get an emergency appointment with your GP, to tell him/her how you are feeling. Whilst pills may not be the long term solution, they may give you enough of a lift to be able to focus more clearly on your debt problem

hi
welcome to the boards you will get great help here.
I have not ever posted soa but i had used the boards for advice a long time before ever posting. Our debt is very high 78,000 it was 80,000 but as a result of these boards contacted cccs and we are now on dmp and have paid off over £3,000. its not easy but it was the best option for us.
I was really worried about credit rating thats what stopped me sometimes going for help but now i am over all that worry about credit rating and feel like i would never want credit again, and i just want to be debt free.
If you post a soa you will get good help but only post if you want to, if not loads of help about cutting back on here for you to look at in your own time.
Please do not feel alone in this problem.
take care and welcome again.0 -

Welcome to the board, the posters here will do everything possible to advise, just realise you are not alone and the information you receive here, if acted upon, will help you get through this.
There is no magic wand, we just arm you with the facts

Unfortunately we will need a SOA, as even if there is nothing to cut back on, we wont have any facts to work with.
Also you will need to list out all of these debts (with APRs and minimum monthly payments), and put them in order of APR, that will be the order of repaying the cards each month.
Really need a solution how to clear this debt. Cant sleep at nights. Feel sick all the time. Spoke to CCCs last week. Helpful, but dont want credit rating to get any worse than it already is. Whats the quickest way to start the ball rolling.
I think calling the CCCs is a great start, what was the next step with them? Did they arrange a meeting, ask you for SOAs etc?
Now is a good time to act, but you have two avenues of support and advice.
Please tell me what to do.
Post your SOA and credit card list, and also stop panicking (i know easy to say but its true), the CCCs if you instruct them too will deal with your creditors to take that burdon away.
Thanks for your time.
Please post back soon.
Best wishes

Hi Sporter - firstly, you have definitely come to the right place. You would be amazed how many people have come here not knowing where to turn next, and have found a way to get back in control of their finances.
I hope in time you will feel you can post your SOA, but if you can't just yet (remember, it's completely anonymous and we wont laugh or criticise), then really there are 3 options - decrease your outgoings, increase your income, or go down the debt management route.
The reason we ask for an SOA is because it often gives us quite a lot of background information at a glance, so it's easier to make suggestions based on what is right for you.
You say you have cut back as far as possible.....can you increase your income at all? Overtime, second job, ask for a payrise etc?
The most important thing to remember is that you are not alone - there are many others on here dealing with similar situations, and we can support you as much as you need."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
Sporter,
I couldn't for the life of me see where i was "wasting" or spending money so I thought a SOA was pointless. I did one eventually and it was pointed out to me that i was spending £70 a week on chicken breasts for the dog, £100 a month on Sky tele and £800 a year on a season ticket for Hartlepool United.... there were about another 5 or 6 things that I considered mandatory but they all had to go although the dog still gets fed... just normal chicken and biscuts now not tesco finest chicken breasts.....lol.
Be brave, do a SOA post it and sit back with a cup of tea and wait for some constructive help. I have no intention of belittling your crisis and the fact you owe £20k but a little effort from my wife and I and the massive help from this board and Martins tv / radio programmes have reduced our debt by MORE THAN YOU OWE in 2.5 years. It's been a pain having only £10 some weeks to buy food with, or being housebound ( I'm disabled) when I have no money for petrol etc but if we can do that your can clear your debts with help which you will get here.
PLEASE be positive. Think positive and things look a little better. One thing for sure, suicide doesn't help, I know I've tried that, got the T shirt and the debts are still here but help is on the way.
Post the SOA asap.
