Hi there,
Trying to get a letter out today to MBNA. Do you think it is worth me offering, say an extra £30 per month; at present paying £14.01 per month. As I said before in my post, is it worth increasing payments now although my MBNA account will still be defaulted. I am just worried about the remortgage in May, so not sure what to do before this arises. I am going to get my credit report file and see what is on it at present.
Any advice on this please.0 -
I would keep hold of the extra money for now. Possibly put it aside and hopefully you'll be able to offer F&F settlements soon. I don't think increasing it now will have any impact on what is decided in May.After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

Hi Sporter,
How's it all going? Did you ring the Halifax?
Hope you are keeping positive.

No..........wont ring the Halifax until first week in March. The only good thing at the moment is that my mortgage rate comes to an end in May and then i will be on a variable rate. Hopefully this will be good for me until I can go back on to a fixed rate.
I have now transfererd all my DDs to the Co-operative Bank. Hopefully this will run smoothly, as i have been ringing around trying to make sure that DD is not taken from NatWest account as there will be no money in it.
I did speak to NatWest today to say I had transferred to another Bank and that all DDs will now be cancelled (did this on line also, just to make sure). Asked how much £5,000 overdraft payment per month is....they tell me approximately £80 per month as it is on a 18% interest. Told them cant afford that. I suppose I have to go down that road again of giving them my summary and expenditure sheet and offering them what I can, like I did with the other creditors.
Fed up now.............0 -
Hey, don't be fed up, treat them as a creditor as that is all they are. If you pay them more than you can afford you will still be paying interest, but they should be classed te same as any other debt and you have to split the available money equally between them.
Once they are a creditor they may stop charging interest which means any money you pay will clear the debt.

Hi Sporter just thought I would drop in. I know you have had a few battles but hang on in there as the banks can't have what you ain't got!
Keep your chin up, pop along to your GP as justruth suggested. Just remember you WILL get there.
When I was in debt I found it helped to look back and see how far I had gone to clearing my debts, it gave me the incentive to battle on.
Good luck.Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)0 -
Hello Sporter, any progress with Natwest yet? Sending summary etc? I hope you can get it sorted soon.Miggy

Can you believe it.............just spoke to NatWest as I have checked my account and now my salary has been transferred to Co operative Bank. But now NatWest have taken out approx £74 for charges, making me overdrawn. I have just spoken to them and they say that it is not helping my account by moving my salary. Told them that I need to sort out overdraft and that NatWest has not helped in any way. They said they will make an appointment for me to see someone and get back to me asap, as I really need help (duh!)........been telling them that for the past year and all they do is offer me loans, loans, loans...............

Reclaim these charges and any others they have applied to your account in the last 6 years. They are not allowed by law to make a profit on penalty charges.
If you have spoken to CCCS or Payplan, tell them this and inform them of what you were advised. Even if this means they should only be getting a £1 token payment. Chances are they'll try to get you to take out a loan again, just don't hit anyone. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

Getting really tired now................
Spoke to MBNA and they have offered me a £4,100 in full and final settlement:j (account stands at over £11,000). Would you believe that this all started around June/July last year and it is only this month that they have stopped the interest & charges. They said that I could still make the arrangement payment of £95 a month and that the £4,100 would still be there for me when I can pay this. If there was anyway I could get the £4,100 then this would be great, but alas, I cant!!If nothing is done, then the account will be defaulted at the end of this month:mad:
Anyway, still thinking that my mortgage payments will be coming down hopefully by some £200 per month in May/June, so might try and "hang on" for a few months until that has passed. Dont want to get another "default" on my credit file (not yet anway!!)
