Stick with it....!
It's worth looking for the new account sooner rather than later in my (limited!) experience. I applied online thinking it would be faster but of course they need proof of your id etc which I have had to send off, so if you can, when you've decided definitely where youre going, would be faster to go into the branch! I am still waiting 3 weeks later. It's been approved pening receipt of id.
I am also in the cancelling direct debits/token payments stage and terrified about all that and the switching banks etc....after being on this site though I feel far more positive as wasn't eating/sleeping and permanently wanting to be sick/burst into tears in public....0 -
Sporter - i'd try to make sure you open an account with a company you do not owe any money to - at all.
Try not to dwell too much on it - you have taken professional advice (also from CCCS). You are playing it by the book so are doing the right thing. The creditors may not like it but there is not much else you can do.
Keep CCCS and us informed if anything comes up that throws you or that you are unsure of. There's alot of knowledge on the board from people who have been in exactly the same situation. It won't be easy and i can well imagine how scary it must be. Just try to plan out what is required and take it one step at a time. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

Hi Sporter
Well done Hun...it's a big step you're taking....and well done on making the decision not to take the loan.
Hopefully when you get this sorted out with the card companies you will feel a whole lot better...after all, this way you are not going to jeopardise your mortgage payments and therefore your house...which is ultimately what could happen if you carried on as you were....
There is no shame in what you are doing....and we are here to hold you hand.
So deep breaths......cup of tea (or glass of wine).......last hurdle coming up before you can finally get that load off your shoulders.
Hugs to you my love

Hi to Sporter, I came across this thread by accident tonight and have had to read from start to finish - so far! Although the debts are still there, the most important thing is so are you. Having read through the tread, I am so impressed with how you have stuck with this and I think you have given real hope to people in a similar position. Also, to all the fantastic people who have offered advice and support, big big thank you's. My debt may not be a huge as Sporters, but the empathy felt from reading through comments has given me the motivation I needed to work on getting rid of my debts. Big hugs to all xxxx0

Thank you so much for your kind words of support:grouphug:
I'm not exactly sure whats wrong with me.......one minute I feel I am doing the right thing in making the pro rata payments, then the next I break down and feel that it would be less hassell just to take the loan, pay everyone, cut up the credit cards, keep my credit file intact and pay the £300 until May when I can add it on the the mortgage.............
Then reality kicks in and to be honest I really dont know what I want to do.... I dont want to mess up credit rating only because I need to get a good rate when its time to re-mortgage again in May, then I think what will happen if I do end up making pro rata payments to creditors and I need to re-mortgage and cant get a good rate, then I think............oh god, I really dont know guys.............seriously..........i really, really, really dont know......I need to make my mind up once and for all over the weekend...........Ive got a headache now and the sleepless nights are upon me again..........just cant get my head around it this time...............one day im ok...........the next im all over the place...........

There are a million what if's in your head at the moment sporter.
Take it one day at a time, try not to focus on the whole as it does seem like a mammoth task, one little hurdle at a time and we're here to support you

Hey sporter we all go through these things..no matter what finances we have to juggle with. I understand your concerns, really at the end of the day you are the one making decisions and we are just giving you some ideas.
I would certainly have a word with your sister and get the full gist of things as if you go down that route you really don't want to get into a situation where you can't pay it back.
Did you say that you would be paying it back at £300 per month? If so then i would definately go down the route of full and final settlement as that will be what is shown on your credit file..and you can make sure that is so andnot a partial settlement. Work out then what you would need to borrow off your sister and how long it will take to pay back at that rate.
Hope it helps and good luck with your decisions.

Sporter, i've been trying to think what would be best for your situation but trying to get a handle on the finances. It seems that you are tring to just get to May and then can concentrate fully on the finances
I don't know if you may be able to change your mortgage to interest only or how this may affect the mortgage application. I tried looking at your SOA, but not sure exactly how much you now have available to put towards the debts or what the monthly shortfall is.
Also, are you sure you will be able to add to the mortgage?
Sorry it's all questions right now - just want ot be sure we're looking at this without assuming too much.
Have you looked at your budget recently to make sure everything is accounted for? Might be worth posting up the SOA again so we know what has happened with the juggling of accounts.
