Changes To StayWarm
Comments
-
My mum has been on 'Staywarm' for a number of years. However, each year they put it up and say she's using too much. She's in a 3 bed semi on her own for the past 2 years since my father died. Its got to the point where she is scared to put the heating on. Just wrote to her again saying her monthly payment is going upto £77 per month, approx £915 per year. Noticed how much she had used last year so went on the EDF site, onto their calculator and was shocked to see she would only pay £650 per year on a standard monthly payment, for the same amount of Gas & electric.
She is now going to change, maybe worth trying yourselves, those who have'nt.0 -
Does anyone have any clues as to whether Staywarm are likely to reassess their 2007 monthly charges following the cut in BG's prices?
I was going to check the comparison sites in Mar/Apr, to see whether it would be worth while switching; last time I checked, it was marginal so may not have made the switch but now, of course, other providers' tariffs are likely to look cheap compared to my new Staywarm charges.
Problem is, if I do switch, they won't take me back (I'm not sure they're taking new customers anyway, but I am sure they wouldn't take a high user back on their books).
I get the feeling their attitude is that they set a 12-month price and it's fixed for 12 months, take it or leave it. Or are they likely to see this year's gas price reduction as an exception?0 -
I think you've guessed it right with fixed price for 12 months.
Good when prices are going up, but like those who got fixed price deals with british gas, you suffer when prices drop.0 -

Spoke to them last week about this and the person said they should be reassessing their Staywarm tariffs within the next 'few' weeks.0 -
No longer relevant.0

There was some mention on "Working Lunch" today, but not about reducing the tariff mid-contract. It seems that one or two customers have been told that they would be better off with the standard Powegen tariff than Staywarm.0

I have been on Staywarm for 3 years and just about to enter a new contract period. But Powergen want to increase our monthly payment by about 66% to £143 per month even though utility prices have crashed over the last year. Is any one else about to get anew Staywarm contract and if so what is the price/% increase over last year (April 2006 to March2007) Any ideas on a new provider? We live in the Outer London-North west Area.0

I just renewed mine at end of January and it rose by 15% so was ok with that0

You could do far worse than to check out EBICO.0 -
Today I followed up info on another thread regarding lower Staywarm payments for those on disability benefits, and this brought ours down from £106.75 to £93.36. Better than a jab in the eye with a sharp stick.
But, at the same time, she volunteered the information that all customers were being written to in about two weeks time regarding reductions in charges following the gas price cuts. She didn't go so far as to say all Staywarm customers would have their charges reduced, but it does look promising.0
