Changes To StayWarm

Do we know whether Staywarm are writing to customers with new rates?
I hadn't been expecting a reduction part way through the year and, now that Spring is here, was about to get on with changing suppliers, but twice when speaking to Staywarm they've told me there's a letter coming out 'in a couple of weeks', plus Martin's utilities page mentions a price cut due from 'Powergen, Staywarm' on 30 Apr 07.
If it is going to drop, I'll wait to see the new price, otherwise I'll hang on.0 -
I,ve been told that by Staywarm too but so far have heard nothing0

Another thing worth mentioning is that when you first sign up to staywarm, if anyone in the household is on low income benefits (pension credit etc.), they should refer your name and address to the home energy efficiency scheme, who will do free additional loft insulation and fit free smoke alarms. This bit isn't funded by Powergen, but make sure you don't miss out if you are eligible. It might cut the first year's energy usage a bit and prevent you falling into the excessive usage category.
This isn't correct, at least in our case. We do not receive benefits of any sort at present, yet PowerGen arranged for free cavity wall insulation and a thick extra layer of loft insulation which was done about a year ago.
Moving on to the renewal of our StayWarm contract, due early in Apri 2007. This is due to go up to £96 from £84, but since then PowerGen has announced its 15 per cent charges reduction.
However, we will only get 5 per cent of this figure as the contact starts before the reductions come into effect - the other 10 per cent will come into effect in a year's time.
Seems strange that the first two months can't be at the £96 rate, reducing by 15 per cent from June onwards.
That's why I'm going to have a look at other energy providers to see what they can come up with before deciding whether to renew.0 -

It is encouraging to read that Staywarm may be reducing monthly charges, albeit late April. As the two of us for a two bedroom pay £80.41 (I think it is), I was about to embark on a cheaper company and looked at this thread for information. On Monday I will give them a call to see if they can confim the reduction and tell them I am about to look elsewhere. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. In Martins newsletter today (11th), he suggests that now may well be the time to switch providers if it is right for you. As our monthly payment is £80.41, I could well do with reducing this.
I've just rung Staywarm and been told I'm due for a letter informing me of a 15% reduction. 5% as from April 30th and the remaining 10% on the anniversary of my contract, which is December.
What would you do were you in our shoes?.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
as if by magic, staywarms letter arrived today, but I noticed the wording was something like "to be able to use as much gas and electricity as you like etc". Which surprised me because people had suggested that if you use too much, you are penalised. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. So has your monthly payment been reduced from the £80.41 that you had been quoted earlier?0 -
They say a letter will arrive with details about my 5% reduction as from the 30th and were I to extend my contract in dec, it will reduce by a further 10%.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
