    Congrtulations Polllyanna.

You kept us on the edge of our seats for long enough!

Fantastic news, I bet your OH will be excited too.

Enjoy these times. Keep a diary!

  • Congratulations!

So you'd be due in November Im guessing?

    Congrats again!!
  • Is tea really bad then? I didn't think it had as much caffine as coffee. I'm still going to have my morning cup of coffee though, does that make me a bad mum?! And I will probably have 2 cups of tea between getting in from work and going to bed.

My fertility clinic dietician restricted me to 5 mugs of tea a day or less when trying to conceive, and during pregnancy. I should think you'll be OK with what you are drinking.

I used to have one cup of tea when I got up, decaff tea all day at work, and real tea when I got home. (I have no problems sleeping).

Just came across this thread and just wanted to congratulate you, Pollyanna. :)

A metallic taste and overwhelming tiredness was my first signs with all 4 of mine.

I had to smile at you going over the spreadsheets to see if you had enough money to do this. My mum said that if you waited until you thought you'd enough money to have a baby, you'd never have one, as we never think we have enough money. :)
  • Thanks for everyone's replies. I think I'm still quite calm about it. After being convinced since the day my period was late that I was pregnant, after the test I did on Sunday, I'd convinced myself I wasn't, especially as all the symptoms seem to have gone, and now I still think maybe the test was wrong. But going to continue as I am for a few weeks before I go to the doctors or anything, as I've figured out I'm 6 weeks pregnant (going by date of last period, if that's the right way to do it).

I think everyone stresses out about finances, but I think I've done all I can do in that respect. Doesn't help that I'm the breadwinner though with a nice safe job and bf has the unsteady job.

We have savings that we desperately don't want to go into.

I have about £600 in my personal savings account which is to supplement our income when baby comes (this will go up by £100 a month until I have to stop work).

Until I stop work, bf wants to set up a "baby account" where we put £100 of our "pocket money" out of our wages to pay for things like a stockpile of nappies, cot etc. This should amount to about £1,200 if I've added up right. (6 months of £200).

Keep calm, it will be sorted. If it weren't for the mortgage, we'd be fine... but if it weren't for the mortgage... we'd have nowhere to live!! Have a nicely sized 3 bed, so no need to move... ever!

I sympathise with your concerns about the mortgage but everyone always says dont worry you will find a way so I guess you will find a way... we are TTC but am also in the same situation ie. I'm main earner but like they say where there is a will there is a way! the main thing is that you sound very organised and that will help alot -
    good luck! and congratulations again!

    Congratulations Pollyanna!

I'm in a similar situation as you, the steady main job of the house with a BF who has a job which doesn't pay him if he is off sick etc. The money has always been a reason for us not having kids yet but in the last couple of months i've just thought !!!!!! it! It seems like a good time at work to take a break, lots of changes, not sure where it will leave me. Mortgagte wise, we have a lot of equity in our house due to inheriting it, and well, worse comes to the worse I'll put the mtg on interest only for a while and stretch the years. I know it's not very mse but I'm young enough (27) and it doesn't bother me.

We are going to start trying in a few weeks when my cycle has calmed down. If it was up to BF I'd have a football team running round by now! The only other thing I need to do is pass my driving test. Think I will need that with a rugrat.

Get yourself signed up for all the baby clubs and get vouchers etc!
Money, money, money, must be funny....in a rich mans world.

  • I just wanted to add my congratulations to you pollyanna it is wonderful news. I have been following this thread with excitement for you.
