I did the test at 5.30am this morning. It was negative, but I think I weed over the entire thing, including the bit where the two lines are, so not sure if that would make a difference (sorry, if that's too much information, but I'm not very awake in the mornings).

I don't know, but I'm not that disappointed, not because I'm not pregnant, but because I still think there is a possibility that I am, if that makes sense. Lots of people on here say that they have had loads of negative tests when they are in fact preggers, so not to worry.

On the other hand, I have just read the post above where someone was 11 days late and then it came 3 days after that. So it could just be one of those things, esp as I've only been off the pill 3 months, and mightn't have regular thingamibobbies yet.

Good luck to anyone else awaiting results!

Hi again, what i did was weed into a clean cup, and dipped the test into that. it said on the pack that this was another way to test instead of weeing directly onto it. That way you can dip the end in with no problems :o

Hope you get a positive result soon :o

I came off the pill in June last year and we have been TTC since, my periods went back to 28 cycle for a few months and I thought 'excellent' it will be clear to tell when I have missed a period. After that they went a bit haywire, being 6 weeks+ meaning I can't really tell if I've 'missed' my period (the first couple of months I spent quite a bit on pregnancy tests). I am now at day 60 something without a period and saw my doctor last week who wasn't too concerned and said keep holding on til the end of Feb then see him again, it may just be that my body hasn't retuned to normal after coming off the pill.

I was like you the first month my period was late, I was convinced I had symtoms (well I did have symptoms, I just wasn't pregnant!) and every test I did I thought it's ok, it just isn't showing up yet. But since then I realised my periods are all over the place and wait a good few weeks before testing. I wouldn't say the trying is putting pressure on me and that's what affecting my periods as some people keep telling me, as we're not letting it take over our lives as such, we are just enjoying the baby making process and not stressing over it. I was waiting for my next period to come so I could then start using the ovulation sticks I got off ebay to check that I am actually ovulating even though my cycle is a bit messed up - so come on AF where are you??

Anyway, I just wanted to say that if you don't get a positive result then perhaps your body is still adjusting to being off the pill, even though you had a 'normal' cycle since coming off. I know how exciting it is to test when your period doesn't come and to think that the test just isn't picking it up, but now I also know that the majority of tests will pick it up and I'm just convincing myself I've conceived sometimes!

Hope it happens for you soon! Good luck!

If it's of any encouragement to you - I was due on 2 Tuesdays ago and nothing....did first test on the Friday (3 days late) and it was neg, tested again on the tuesday (week late) and neg again although still pretty sure was pregnant. Tested again on the thursday (10 days late) and looked neg, then the phone rang so left it for a couple more minutes - when I went back in - very faint but line definitely there!!! So faint so you could easily miss it if not looking in a good light!! Tested again a week later just to be sure and line appeared instantly!! So don't get your hopes up but if you still suspect - try again in a few days!! goodluck

    Thanks guys

Thanks HoneyPop. I've got a feeling this is probably what is going on. Think it was just wishful thinking that I may have got pregnant straightaway.

BF is pretty excited, asks every day, but I think we both have to calm down a bit and try to forget about it for a while. Just cos AF is not there, it doesn't mean anything. Sob.

It is horrible waiting and not knowing - every month I feel excited then try my hardest not to cos it might affect my period being late or early! I was 11 days late a couple of months ago but I had no symptoms whatsoever so there was much less of a chance I was pregnant (even though a small piece of me thought well maybe I am). Just keep trying the tests, and as keelykat says dip the stick into pot of wee - supposed to be a better way of doing it and saves mess! lol

Fingers crossed you get a positive x

I have come off the pill a couple of times with different results. The first time I came off it was in November 06 and DD was born October 07 so that worked quickly :D

The second time was a couple of years ago, as OH had the snip I didnt need to be on it. I had 2 periods then nothing for over 12 months. I also went through the "Am I pregnant?" thoughts because I had all the symptoms, but I knew (and prayed) I couldnt be. Dr put me back on the pill for 2 months, until I saw our practice nurse who was not happy because it can take up to 18 months for your body to regulate after stopping the pill. Stopped taiking it again and this time went straight into a normal cycle.

Everyone will react differently, but it is easy to confuse the usual hormonal symptoms with pregnancy.

To all those TTC with irregular cycles depending on your age consider lying to your doctor about how long you have been trying as they won't usually start any tests till you've been trying for over 12 months.

I have alway had an irregular cycle (21day to 80 day) and instinctively knew I would have problems conceiving. I gave it 6 months and then went to GP. He sent me for blood tests to see if I was ovulating and I wasn't. I had to go for blood tests weekly as I had an irregular cycle but there was no sign of ovulation. I tried Clomid which really messed me up and a few other drugs to no effect. At my first visit to GP he referred me to hospital to speed things up and said it could always be cancelled. I then had 12 months of treatment by the hospital to try to get my blooming ovaries to ovulate. Finally I had 2 follicles but told they were both on the small side so to wait for my period and come back next month. After falling asleep at my desk in work I realised I hadn't had a period so bought a pregnancy test. First glance it looked negative but it was positive - I was 5 weeks gone and now have a gorgeous 12 year old DD.

  • I'm not planning on TTC for at least another few years yet, but my cycle sounds a bit like yours, only time I was regular was when I was on the pill.
