congratulations!, i'm 7 weeks with my second so due around the same time i think. you need to start taking 400mg of folic acid and get your self off to the gp, they need to refer you to the midwife and the hospital for your scans at 12 weeks.0

I hope this doesn't upset anyone, I just feel that even though getting a GP to do the test saves your pocket, its only buy pennies, and if everyone did then what. A lot of GP's actually refuse to test without medical reason and do in fact send you off to the chemist to buy a test or get the chemist to do it anyway. Why bother the GP, they won't like it unless their is a medical reason for the test to be done by them.
Someone might need to see the doctor for something they couldn't possibly do at home.
And now that I have finished reading the thread, I would like to extend my congratulations to you both :TManners make the man...:D0 -
Aaaaw, I am so pleased for you.
I was checking the thread and when you hadn't updated, assumed you were still getting negatives.
Enjoy being pregnant0 -
Thank you pollyanna - I was reading the thread yesterday and plucked up the nerve to do a test myself!

Congratulations to you and all!!!! Wonderful news!!
I still am not convinced that I am up the duff (as bf puts it)! Once I do another test at the wend, I'm sure that'll convince me.
Then I will defo get in contact with doctor next week and arrange to go in. After work of course! Need all the money I can get and don't want boss to know yet. :rotfl:
I'm feeling pretty good at the moment (well I'm actually starving at the mo - need lunch, but boss is working me too hard), but I thought bf might be more, I don't know, lovey towards me. He even made me walk the dog by myself last night.I don't want to turn into one of those horrible, "Oh woe is me, I'm pregnant" women, but a bit of loving would be nice. He thinks his sister is a hypochronaic (sp), but she is, in fact, 5 months preggers!

Congrats pollyanna24!
Im 9 weeks now, only two weeks till i go for the first scan!
I agree that you should see your gp, and let him/her refer you to the midwife etc. Everyones different, some people need to go for more check ups then others- ie ive got high bp so im being carefully watched lol!

Thanks again everyone.
Just wondered... when do people tell their mum that they're pregnant? Bf wants me to wait a while as we don't know what's going to happen (and like I keep saying, still not convinced I actually am pregnant...:rotfl: teehee, sure it'll sink in soon!).
I figured I'll need answers from her as to what to tell the midwife as she had quite a few problems having me and my bro.
I'm going to phone on Monday to see the doctor at some point next week.Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

Well I told my mum the day I found out I was pregnant. It really depends on how you feel. I was glad I told my mum as when I was only 10 weeks pregnant I had a small bleed and was glad she was there for me. I went to the hospital; and all was well
. This happened with both my children but think I would have found it even harder if I had had to deal with it on my own as DH was at work at the time.
Were the problems that your mum experienced late on in pregnancy? If so then I wouldn't worry to much as you can inform you midwife late. I know that with my first child I ended up having the first scan before even seeing a midwife!!!
How are you feeling ?January Grocery 11/3740 -
I waited until I was about 8 weeks to tell my Mum with my pregnancies. It's probably a good idea to tell her sooner rather than later if she's the kind of Mum you can rely on for support in times of difficulty IYSWIM.
I lost my third baby fairly early in the pregnancy before we'd told anyone outside the family. Mum was such a support. God that sounds really gloomy. And this is such a happy thread.
So tell your Mum now. :j She'll be chuffed to little mint balls for you after she's got over the shock of becoming a Granny.
You cannot live as I have lived an not end up like me.
Oi you lot - pleaseGIVE BLOOD
- you never know when you and yours might need it back! 67 pints so far.
