People have mentioned Quinn insurance before here and I remember when my daughter was looking for cheaper insurance last year it came up the cheapest with those search sites. She was going to have it and rang them then changed her mind for some reason she found some things werent covered and when she added them it worked out more money in the end, she got it cheaper elsewhere. But at first look it seems they are cheaper. I'd just say check exactly whats covered and all the T & C's.

I also read that they were extremely slow when accidents occured and inefficient. They are an Irish company apparently and it was being said they just were not used to the English roads and werent ready for it over here. This was last August though so there may have been some improvements by now
    Thanx

  • I found my quote go down to £180 a year with Budget but they NOW want to add a Non Fault claim to my paperwork from a completely seperate policy.

I was knocked off my Motorbike 2 years ago or more now and though the driver of the car was held responsible and their insurer pay all my expenses now it seems I am also to lose out by paying higher premiums???????

They say I am a higher risk driver? Where the hell do they get that from??? I was in the wrong place at the wrong time and have an exemplary driving record from driving Cars Buses AND bikes with no incident till this non fault claim.

I fail to see how a Non fault claim can hold ME to ransom.

At the time i couldn't use my CAR NCB to help bring my bike policy down and had to pay full whack and NOW i am to be held liable for a larger premium for something that was out of my control.

If i have to pay higher premiums can i write to someone to send a stiff letter of complaint? My insurance company lost NOTHING so therefor to charge ME more i find an insult

I have driven 14 years and only had one accident (non fault) have no speeding points nothing my licence is clean and to be stung like this has me foaming.

Have they actually told you that you are seen as a higher risk driver? They might have made a mistake as I think even non fault accidents have to be put down when applying, ring them to find out and see if they will change it. If you havent actually taken out the policy yet and they want to do that your best off going elsewhere.
    Thanx

    Thanks Lady_K,
I have found them to be good and efficent so far and even with the extras remained the cheapest. I have heard about their reputation about being inefficent with claims and sending out documents but i think this was when they had just entered the UK market. They have an office in Manachester.

When it comes round to her insurance renewal I'm sure she will check them out again and see how they have progressed here in the UK over the last year. I know they have been in Ireland for many years but thier roads are not anything like UK.

I just looked up reviews on them up till now and even recent reviews its not looking good at all, I wouldnt risk it with them. My daughters a student nurse and needs her car for placements all over so she needed to have a curtesy car and if anything happened she couldnt afford delays in sorting out insurance claims or any added stress of them messing around. She also needs cover for business as shes not just at one hospital or place of work those are not automatically covered in thier insurance. To add business to her churchil cover it was only £10.00 for the year
    Thanx

  • Having spent many hours this last week or so getting online quotes for car insurance, I have come across a couple of inconsistencies. Firstly, "commuting" with most companies means going to one place of work only. If you have to go to different places of work they call that "business use" which can be a lot more expensive. Secondly, if you happen to cancel your policy for a while, whatever the reason, when you come to take out another one you could lose ALL your NCB. More Than will only keep it for you for 6 months while Barclays will keep it for up to 3 years. Worth checking out before you cancel. Also,a new driver taking out a policy will get a lower price if they put one or both of their parents on the policy (presuming they have a good NCB).

My insurance is due for renewal with Admiral next month and given the results of Martin's advice it seems it's quite a sensible quote - using First Direct's "£30 lower than your renewal quote" offer was the best saving for me. £30.05 to be exact. Some compensation for the mind-numbing online form filling I guess...
I'll give Admiral the chance to beat this when I phone to cancel. (Using the geographical number found on saynoto0870.com of course)

Last year I had a volvo 440 or 420, J reg, 27 years old (me - not the car!) 2 or 3 years no claims discount. My renewal price was something like 3 or 400 quid.

I looked around, on the various comparison websites and got my yearly deal down to £90.

The quote was for £190 and I signed up with quidco.com. I'm surprised I don't see more posts about quidco on this site as it's saved me a fortune. From signing up through them, I got £100. So the 12 months insurance cost me £90.

Sadly.... The car died ;-( and I had to get a new one! payments went up 3 times as we got it comprehensively insured for 2 drivers and is a fairly new zafira.

But I'm going to do the same again this year.

I know I keep saying it but they have come up trumps again!!! I follow Martin's method and manage to obtain a ballpark figure as to the best motor insurance deal around. I then dial Best Advice on freephone 0800 085 1898. They take your insurance details and search the whole of the UK market. Apparently, they know from your profile who would provide the best quality cover for the best price for you.

I've now tried them for myself, my mother and more recently my sister. They beat the quotation I had obtained hand over fist and saved me pounds. I'm absolutely delighted and cannot recommend them enough. They are very friendly and knowledgeable on the telephone and nothing is too much for them. You don't feel like you're talking to a robot. You can obtain your quote over the phone or you can also visit their website at https://www.bestadviceuk.co.uk. I used the website last time and filled out the details myself to see how this compared to their phone service. I received an instant reply to say that they were searching the market for me and within the hour a very helpful gentleman called me with an amazing saving. My sister's insurance was already at a competitive price and I didn't think it would be possible to beat it but they did, by £73.00. Give them a try, you have nothing to lose. If they don't beat your quote there is no cost so they can only save you money, which is what this website is all about!
