reveived a renewal quote from Kwik Fit of £421 for annual payment. searched confused.com, !!!!!!!!! and came up with various quotes
went back to Kwik Fit and informed them I had had a cheaper quote The looked again at theirs and Quoted me £314.62 paid monthly I would have ended up paying a total of £372.59 Their APR 35.8%!!!!!!!!!
I transfered £314.62 to my bank from credit card at a 0% transfer rate fee £8.81 making a total of £323.43 and have now set up a standing order to my card of £26.95 saving £49 against paying monthly with Kwik Fit.
Watch out for how they make their money back this way

    Hi,

just got my renewal from Prudential. It turms out to be ~£80 (£544 compared to £465) more than last year. After a quick phone call they are willing to reduce by £50 to £491. However this is still more than last year and a lot more than what others can quote me. I could save £120 (found using confused/ go compare) by moving to Endsleigh (£373) or Swiftcover. I don't know much about those companies and I've made sure all the details are identical for each quote and that the services would be identical or very similar.

Which one would you recommend (or not) the most?

Note: I have a full EU (not uk) license for nearly 11 years, 6 years no claim.

It seems that the cheap quote provided by Endsleigh is related to my job. Endsleigh has branches thoughout the universities in England and as I work in a university this is probably why it was cheaper than anyone else. I shall go and have a chat with them tomorrow.

Got a cheaper quote than my existing insurer and decided to go with the new company and paid a deposit. My existing insurer has since come back with a much cheaper offer. If I stuck with my existing insurer would I lose my deposit?

Having just sold my car, I rang Tesco to cancel my car insurance. They told me that there would be a cancellation charge, broadly equivalent to one month's premium. I have looked through the documentation, and this charge is stated on the policy schedule.

Can they do this? It seems mightily unfair to me. They have been happily collecting my monthly premiums for about 4 years during which I have made no claims. Also, given I pay monthly, they add on a whopping credit charge.

Hi, without wanting to duplicate, I have started a relevant new thread regarding car insurance and which companies offer the best value - based on a section of AUTO EXPRESS (20 June issue). Just thought worth mentioning, otherwise it might be missed and I guess everyone wants the best value as well as the cheapest to save money in the long and short term.

    Hope that helps!

I have heard that the cheapest cars and car insurance could be found in Slovakia and The Czech Republic. They make a lot of cars and they want to sell them to every EU citizens, hence the low price. You can save thousands of pounds when buying them from car makers (VW, Audi,Skoda = VW without the price of the VW brand) own outlets in these countries. You can save even more cash on insurances every year because they do not charge most of the typical EU car taxes, they just don't  . Insurances were designed for the cheap Eastern European road system so they have a very low price. You just need to drive your new car back to the UK ( takes less than one day ). Even the Germans buy their cars there :money: !!! The same insurance policy stands for all makes.
You just need to contact any car dealer there ( google them).
