I can't decide whether to paint it or not.Think I might just paint the inside and add some vintage wallpaper panels. We'll see.
i am a bit of hoarder when it comes to vintage clothes and fabrics etc... with furniture.. i think you got to decide whether it is a sin or a blessing to re-vamp it...depending on what and how old it is....Work to live= not live to work0 -

Well I beg to differ.I think shabby chic is another ready made image/look just as much as other types of looks are. It's lovely but so is a country kitchen or a retro kitchen. Its about what look floats your boat. If I wanted to do a room in shabby chic I could race out tomorrow and pick up lots of things in shops for it. I wouldn't have to lift a paint brush. You wouldn't know the difference. Unique no, but unique to me.
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -

I know what you meant, I stated the same a while back by using the Argos catalogue look as an example, I said that I loved homes that did not look like a page out of the catalogue with all it's false brown plastic sofas and mass produced accessories! think I may have offended some, but it is what I like

I agree on this one Aussie. There is so much in the shops now that is kind of ready made shabby chic that the "look" is easier to create than it once was but that doesn't make it any less lovely. However it is still possible to do it a little bit differently so your home still looks unique. That's why I like "collecting" my bits and pieces over time. I don't think any two houses ever really look the same anyway as we all make our own mark in our own way. (especially with small twins in the house)
CTC and Triage. I don't think anyone's offended by anything you've said, just pointing out that everyone is different.;)0 -
how can anyone be offended by what i have said???
i was only compimenting people on how nice their kitchens are they have been done with love... ok my wording is not hitting the right thing i am trying to express..
but all i was trying to get at was they are individual... you can feel the passion in them.. the homeleness...and the homely comfort feel to themWork to live= not live to work0 -

Glad its not just my hubby then although I must admit he's really brill when I send him off all over the place collecting freecycle goodies but I do have to put up with the hideous tv/wii/playstation in the living room which I can't hide....compromise is the key word in our house.....though him more than me hehesimplicity is key0 -
That's good then as I hate to offend
I love my house, and it is sowly, very slowly evolving into a home that I like to come home to!
I have not finished one room yet where I can say that's it, no more! I am trying to concentrate on my Bath and Dining rooms to start with as I do a lot of entertaining with friends!
I am still on the look out for one of a kind tableware pieces, I love the mother of pearl handles on cutlery and anything silver with spatterings of pastel blues, pinks and greens!0 -

No one is offended are they?I know what you're saying.
And I can't wait to see your pics when you've finished the cupboards.
As for passion in our homes I note that Aussie felt the need to post 3 pics of her bed.0
