  • Hi Charley
The walls are Cornforth White #228 in estate emulsion
The cabinets are Hardwick white #5 oil eggshell
The wardrobe is Slipper satin #2004 oil eggshell
The table & chairs are french grey #18 oil eggshell
& the new dresser is Pigeon #25 oil eggshell
All Farrow & Ball of course!!!!:D

Anyone would think that between us we work for them :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
  • Now another quick question!!! One thing that really annoys me is how to cover up the tv!

I have tried desperately to find a corner tv cupboard to house it in but with little success as I want it to look like a quirky piece of furniture rather than a TV unit, they appear to be limited finds now with the invention of those monstrous wall mounted things!

And when I do find them they want in excess of £500!!

I am not a tv watcher in our house and never have it on when OH and kiddies are out, I would love to disguise it!

Is it worth trying a "Wanted" ad on Freecycle for one?

i love your kitchen....it looks very 40's 50's to me it just goes to show with all the beautifull pics that people are posting... that the best homes are the ones that people have done with love, and not just gone into a chain store and obugth a ready made image look....

I think everyone that has posted have lovely homes. Whatever their style is or if they just don't have the flare that some have, I think they've all been done with love.
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

If your TV is in the corner of the room then you might like to do what I did - put up a large, triangular MDF corner shelf supported by battens - I have high ceilings so mine is above head height - attach a curtain pole to the battens (I used broom handle) and a valance to the shelf edge with stick 'n' sew velcro. The two narrow curtains are attached to the pole with curtain rings (or you could use tabs) and I attached a small ring to the inner edge of each of the two curtains so that they can be looped aside in a theatrical manner to 2 hooks attached to the wall with glue pads, whenever the TV is to be watched.
My TV is on a stand made by my OH and on wheels so that it can be moved out of the corner recess for viewing. All cables etc are hidden in the corner.
When the TV is off the curtains can be closed so that the TV is not part of the decor at all, and the appearance of the stand is not so important.
Depending on the height of the shelf, you can put ornaments or a lamp on it.
