Anyone any ideas of what I can do with an amazon bathroom suite. Can't afford to replace it. Tiles on the wall are also greenWe don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0

I'm a bit nervous of painting furniture are there any sites that show you how its done and get a decent finish? Ta
Jinny I think if you look back through this thread there have been hints & tips about painting furniture. Maybe use the 'search this thread' link in the header. Could check out HariboJunkie's posts too as I think she may have posted about how she painted stuff. HTHNothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task. William James0 -
Vickto, great pine dresser and I have to say F&B really does outdo the rest
Elli, I have no idea who makes the Seafoam paint as the unit was already this colour but F&B do a similar colour called Arsenic :P http://www.farrow-ball.com/productdetails.aspx?pid=0214AR&cid=PC&language=en-GB0 -
Viktotoro love the dresser - the whole room looks so cosy. You are not wrong re the spend warning - I am now listing stuff on ebay to justify my new purchases this week and the ones on my list!!!
We travelled 3 hours yesterday for a day out to Bluewater (and Ikea of course whilst I was 'in the area!!') I bought no clothes......or shoes........this is unheard of!! But my head is in house mode so couldn't focus on clothes etc!!
Spent up in Ikea though  and planning my next trip down!0 -
vivw, what about putting tounge and groove pannelling around the room and along side the bath.. painting these in a cream eggshell.. and then above the pannel put like a faded toile wallpaper in like a green and pink faded pattern
and then paint the tiles cream to match the panneling.. add lots of green and pink shabby chic items.. like rose pattern jugs, lots of glass bottle with sparkly tops etc0 -
I prefer the more modern, streamlined look too. My house is a 1960's boxy bungalow and keeping the interior relatively clutter-free suits it. If I had a cottage though, I think little corners with bits would look gorgeous! I think the only reasonable solution is to buy a separate house just for me.:rotfl:
This is the room that I will be attacking next. It is a sunroom that links my living room and kitchen-diner so it doesn't get used much in winter. Previously, it has been a bit of a dumping ground but I'm keen to make it so nice that I never dump stuff there again. It's so bare though that I don't really know where to start. It's all darkwood doors and tatty lighting.
Any suggestions welcome. I have a budget of about 50p.:p
Oooooh I could do so much with this room!!!
Quick fixes though are to paint doors in Eggshell white/off white (try freecycle, ask for paint), behind the glass panels you could sew some fabric (charity shop sheets/curtains or oddment bins in fabric shops)) so it has a loop at top and bottom to push through curtain wire and fix it to top and bottom of window panel - make sure fabric is ruffled tightly together, this will give it a french shabby look
Paint table legs and base in same colour but leave top and wax over
Recover/get rid of red cushion on that lovely chair! and just add a plain off white floppy linen cushion to it OR a lovely duck egg blue colour which would go lovely.
Make some mini fabric hearts and stuff them with rags to pad out, preferably in same colour as curtain on doors, hang from door handles and light fittings!
Get some cheap hammerite paint in white or grey and paint the gold wall lights.
Throw down a couple of faux fur rugs in light colour and Wallah one shabbyed room
I could do the whole lot for around £25 if I had to buy it all out right!0 -
