After reading the Buttercup and Roses blog I went to bed last night with my head full of ideas for painting all my existing wood furniture. So far there are 4 old dark wood chairs to paint and recover seats, old dark wood plant stand to paint, newish pine mirror and bathroom cabinet to paint. Hardest bit is deciding whether to paint in white or cream?
I also scoured the local paper for details of forthcoming auctions. I haven't been to one of those for years and love the thrill of bidding. (I usually try and stand next to a dealer and earwig what they are saying, lol).
Right, anyone got a spare paintbrush? :rotfl:
Me too - mines a lamp base, small wooden chair, 4 photo frames, shelf unit with drawers and a church pew replica seat if I can persuade OH!!!!
think I am going for Farrow and Ball after reading this thread i just need to pick a colour.
I rummaged in the remnant box at Laura Ashley yesterday and got a piece of blue polka dot oilcloth almost a metre for £4.50 - will fit my small table or I may if motivated make a shopping bag. was pleased with my bargain:D0 -
oooo just found another great kitchen cupboard... now this is a classic one... i really wish i had one of these....i can remember these with the glass sliding doors in the middle...
sorry for posting these old bits of kitchen furniture.. i have spotted on ebay... but i do get carried away with vintage stuff ...lol..

anyway back on topic..... if you are making some ptachwork or other small bits of craft items.. you can get old wall paper books which has some matching fabric samples in them as well ...also the sample pages of the wall paper can be used to decoupage things... not the 3d type but the old french style...
you can normally pick the wall paper books up for free when th new range of wall paper are in... you can get some beautifull floral. 'shabby chic' ones...Work to live= not live to work0 -

This thread should come with a warning label - may cause unplanned spending! After being inspired by all the wonderful projects and pretties, I went and bought a cheapie ebay pine dresser, some Farrow and Ball paint and a roller. I am so chuffed with the end result, and really want to thank you all for sharing your ideas. The only downside is that we'll be living on soup and beans for the next few weeks!I'm planning to F&B my kitchen next, but maybe that can wait a little while.
Anyway, thought you might like to see the end result:
The colour is 'cooking apple green' if you're interested.0 -

I have been reading this thread regularly and love having a sneak around peoples houses (via photo's of course;) ), so keep the piccies coming.
Just thought I would let you know.....yesterday Weymouth's Woolworths had lovely kitchen seat covers (pastel blue with little pink roses on) and also tea towels to match. Was going to take a pic on my phone but they were about to close. Not sure if all Woolies have them but might be worth popping in.£2 savers club. No.90. Aim £500.0 -
You did a fantastic job on the dresser & the colour is lovely. We picked up a toilet, cistern & hand basin (new)that exact colour from someone over here that didn't want it for our spare room under the house. It was made by Royal Doulton in the 70's. They had just shoved it in their shed. Bargain for us.
Love the other pics too. Bathroom looks pretty. I've seen the ladder idea before. Also hanging from the kitchen ceiling as a pot hanger. Looks good too. Great finds Traige. I see nothing over here like that in flea marekts/car boot sales etc. Boo hiss.Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0
