Been reading this thread since is started and had to share my find with you. Not sure if anyone else has seen it but i went to Primark today and they have some really lovely bed throws and cushions that are almost identical to Cath Kidston. Quite similar to the ones ikeas did a while back.
I got the set that is pink with white polka dots on one side and on the other it has a candy stripes. There is also a set which has blue back ground with pink roses on, candy stripe and polka dots. I'm hoping they have it when i go back next week (after being paid!!). I'll take a pic of the set tomorrow if any one is intersted?
Are the cushions in this design? Im so excited, might have a trip to Primark tomorow if they are, Ive been searching for cheap cushions in this style for ages.0 -

I've got a day to myself today (kids are off to exmoor with their dad & his g/f) so thinking of going to have a nosey round a car boot.
I reckon Devon must be the "Shabby Chic" capital of the world Europe England South West :j:T*Thanks to all who posts comps * :j0 -
Right keep losing posts so will have one more go.
After sitting on me tush for too long, Im finally gonna have a go at making loose covers for my shabby but not chic sofa. I have some cream sheets I could use, but what's putting me off is they will get grubby very easy and will be forever in the wash. I have some dark red ones I could use (I spill red wine every Saturday night without fail:o I dont like white wine ). What could I do to still have the "look" and be practical.”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)
Put on some lipstick
and pull yourself together”

I personally wouldn't worry about keeping to all cream. Shabby chic is also about creating a good look in a creative, imaginative and practical way. Use the dark red sheets for the loose cover and use the cream sheets with various embellishments ie lace, buttons for cushion covers. I reckon that could look really great. We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0

Red will be fine. Maybe add some striped/floral scatter cushions on the sofa to break the colour up a bit?0 -
Thanks for the tips, youv'e planted pics in my head for cushions, the frills could be made in cream and dark red prints, spots or stripes. Have sat on here all morning now and have chores to do. Will make time soon to get it done, hopefully. Ta.”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)

I just Love this thread - please keep it going and carry on posting your fantastic ideas, links and pics. :T :j
I just wanted to ask a quick question - going through all the photos and links I notice that Shabby Chic seems to cover those who have LOADS of clutter (sorry that seems very rude, I mean ornaments, furniture, etc etc) and those that have a more streamline look and I just wondered which you personally prefer? I go for the more streamline myself but don't like the minimalistic look at all!
Hope you're all having a lovely day:beer:0
