it just show how people are in a throw away society and unfortunetley the majority of people dont think like os mse'rs... ok for my business its great.. but for the enviroment its naff....the majority of the things i get in have a second life so to speak....the pile of clothes in the photo is only a smidging of what i have been getting lately.....
to be honest i know i am going to be shooting my self in the foot here.. on a business level, but the best thing people can do for the enviroment is stop buying new items..... reuse what we have... and re-vamp old items... and that last bit for me is the whole ethos of shabby chic...
i have noticed there are loads of naff 60's 70's wall plagues with little key hooks.. which are brown and a souvinor from spain type thing. that charity shops and car booters cant give away....which i am going to try and get hold of one and re- paint it/ re-vamp it....maybe glue clothes pegs to it instead of the little hooks, and use it for my tea towels etc....
same as with the old brown souvinor letter rack... which again can easily be spruced up....
Hope this isn't a silly or personal question CTC, but what do you actually do with it all? Recycle the clothes to make new ones for yourself, or sell on?
Being rubbish at sewing myself, I am intrigued.
Thanks.Ageing is a privilege not everyone gets.

I have never felt such overwhelming desire for someone elses house. I almost feel ashamed of myself.
Almost. :rotfl:Katie.0 -

I thought the charity shop stuff got sorted/washed "out back" of the shop before being sold.
Rubbish bin stuff I thought was destined for landfill.....:oAgeing is a privilege not everyone gets.

Please don't apologise it was a genuine thank you I really can't do links and you weren't to know I had mentioned it. Upset to think I might have come across as sarcastic or something. So I owe you an apology- Sorry :kisses3:Nothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task. William James0 -

partly right..... charity shops are very selective these days in what they put on the rails.... and then they have a shelf life. if they are not sold within x amount of time they are then 'culled' into the 'rag bag' which are sold on to people like myself...
even the rubbish that you think that goes into the landfill has now got to be recycled... to try and keep local coucil targets otherwise they will get fined...
they are not many years left before most of the landfills in britain are full.. hense the big surge in recycling.. and even the thought of charging you for the rubbish collection if you dont recycle....
landfills are now turning into 'recycling stations' to try and recycle as much as possible...
back on topic..... so the best way to be shabby chic ..in my opinion is to use old material and bits and re-vamp them...Work to live= not live to work0
