Haribo, I just have to say your house looks gorgeous, and I love the kitchen. I am browsing through the pictures as I type.
I saw an old singer sewing machine in the charity shop the other day, it was perfect. It even had the original instruction manual. I wish I had bought it now, it was only £40.00..grrr me and my indesive head!Mortgage Free as of 20.9.17Declutter challenge 2023, 2024 🏅 🏅⭐️⭐️

Thankyou.I keep looking at the pics too as your own home looks funny in them IYKWIM and I must confess I've started moving things around as I don't think some of the things look right in the photos. :rotfl:
I constantly shift stuff around [strike]just to confuse OH.[/strike]0 -

Totally disagree on this one aussie lass....mass produced stuff isn't a patch on vintage, bashed up, scuffed and worn in.It definately doesn't look the same imo it just has no patina, no history, no story and you are giving your hard earned cash away to the man who churns this stuff out in factories in China. So for me its as much about recycling, reusing & revamping ethic rather than getting the 'look'...saying that I do buy the odd jar/plate/basket from the big blue & yellow shop but try to keep it to the absolute minimum....simplicity is key0 -
Can't we just get back to looking at lovely pics and blogs
instead of discussing the rights and wrongs of what is Shabby Chic and whether real vintage is better than reproduction.
Surely there's a place for everything. They're OUR homes after all and a reflection of our own PERSONAL taste.

Thanks nomoney..... I'm actually desperate to move house to get a bigger garden so we're never happy are we?
You can still get the look in a galley kitchen. Why not remove a few of your top cabinets and replace with open shelves which you could line with pretty paper and display stuff on. If you have room on top of your units you could also diplay things up there. And some nice flowery curtains on the window.0 -
Nomoney, it's awful isn't it.:rotfl: I even caught myself perusing RightMove.com yesterday to lust over cottages and vintage-style houses.
Anyway, I am determined to make my boxy house as lovely and loved-looking as these gorgeous, inspirational homes. I really appreciated to advice on painting my coffee table legs and I'm going to do that and two side tables for my bedroom this week! Exciting but nerve wracking.
Thank you to whoever posted the painting instructions up the thread - perfect timing for me.
Now, if you had my kitchen window, what would you do? I don't want to hide the view, I don't need to close curtains or shutters but it just looks so....boxy.:rotfl: Can you see a theme here! Maybe I should buy some bunting........Katie.0 -
Thinking of lovely homes has anyone been watching the 'Jamie @ home' series..the rooms they are are gorgeous wouldn't you love to have a look round the rest of the house...and I love those big green cast iron pots he uses now that's something I would be willing to throw money away on...simplicity is key0

thanks , i never thought of taking cupboards out but think that wud look really nice! Now if i cud just hire a skip to get rid of the stuff that is bulging out of the cupboards i will be ok! i have bits of shabby chic stuff dotted around the house but nothing like yours..love your kitchen!
This thread has given me the motivation to try making, recycling things etc rather than spending money on buying things.0 -

The inside of the house could look like a tip for all I would care as I'd be glued to the view all day. That is stunning.
What about a non fussy but pretty blind just kept rolled up all the time.0
