Just given up with this bidding, unfortunately it has gone to automatic bidding and I don't know whether hubby would afford to go up any higher.. Just gone to 30.00 and it's still an outbid..grrr. Oh well never mind.Mortgage Free as of 20.9.17Declutter challenge 2023, 2024 🏅 🏅⭐️⭐️

I know it is rather late but yesterday in the mail on sunday "you" magazine they had a piece about doing up things. And they used plastic kote paint in a can and the end result looked nice.
They also wall papered the drawers a Argos pine chest and painted the rest and it looked real nice.
I would scan and pop up but not sure of copyright issues.

Now another quick question!!! One thing that really annoys me is how to cover up the tv!
I have tried desperately to find a corner tv cupboard to house it in but with little success as I want it to look like a quirky piece of furniture rather than a TV unit, they appear to be limited finds now with the invention of those monstrous wall mounted things!
And when I do find them they want in excess of £500!!
I am not a tv watcher in our house and never have it on when OH and kiddies are out, I would love to disguise it!
I could not agree more, I hate these metal modern things, I have been looking for years for a nice tv cabinet and have failed to find one that we both like. BUT like everything else in my house, I have waited it out and eventually I see something, you just haven't to be in a hurry. But I do hate the corner where the telly is at the moment, looks unfinished.0 -
OMG this is literally the town next to me..I think I am going to have to bid on this, especially as I have a pine dresser and a pine chest of drawers in my living room
Thank you so much chinatown for this find..you are an angel.
Oh what a shame its gone loads higher when theres been so real bargains recently. Sorry if youre now disheartened.0 -

I can't decide whether to paint it or not.Think I might just paint the inside and add some vintage wallpaper panels. We'll see.
My husband doesn't like vintage really, he likes modern. When we were on a hunt for rugs, some of them that I liked, he said they looked like what his mother used to have when they could not afford proper carpet, SHABBY, blimey! they were gorgeous persian rugs some of them. NOT that I have persian rugs mind you, but we did eventually get some that we both liked. He also doesn't like distressed furniture, he would want to sand it down and fill the holes!
However he is a bit of a hoarder and he will not throw anything out, we have his mothers old china cabinet and bureau in the garage as we don't know what to do with them, they are sentimental as is our 70s dining table, also in there. We got it when we were first married and before it arrived, we used to sit on our bed and use the ironing board and eat for a few weeks :rotfl:0 -
Im new to this thread and im buzzing with ideas nw. I recently painted the kitchen ready for a makeover but i feel i cant move on until i do something with the doors. They are awful. We privately rent the house so nervous about what we can do - we rarely see our landlord and as going to ask next time but i need an idea t present to them! I did wandr about replacing the door with sme i cna salvage and do up and keep the exisiting ones in the attic to put back when we move if landlord wants to.
Anyway - i have a pic incase someone can help

I also have a pic there of a poster in my kitchen, i almost want to base my decor around it. Its about something in my area, which is also where i grew up and this poster was on my parents dining room wall as i grew up. i remember my mum painiting the frame as well as table legs and wooden egg cups. proper shabby chic!
off to do school pick up....im hoping when i get back someone has a 1st class idea! lol.0 -

I think I know what you are getting at. Instead of going out and "buying" a look. We have, over time bought things we like bit by bit and not just gone for the "trend of the day". But everyone has a different taste, makes the world interesting.0 -

I saw that too and Maypole.... they showed a dated old china cabinet which sounds like the one in your garage which they lined the inside back wall of with wallpaper and painted white and it looked lovely.
I'm not sure about using plastic cote if you're after a really matt effect.0 -
Code a holic... Those are the exact cupboard doors we had in our first house and they we're easily covered up with paint. Just remove the door, paint on some melamine primer and roller on the paint of your choice. You're obviously restricted with the handles but we just left them as they were and they looked fine.
The colours of the poster are lovely and you could always reframe it if you wanted to introduce another colour.0 -

Of course it is a matter of finding space too, you never know though.0
