  • A quickie about pamela andersons 'crib' I have a theory that Rachel Ashwell was her interior designer as she also has a pad in Malibu and PA's place looks like it is straight out of her 'shabby chic' book. FAb.....

*edit - just looked a little closer at that link and I'm not sure that is what you ment :(. It could be worth emailing them and asking what they would charge for letters as they look like they will do orders.

what a great site.I was thinking could kids paint these to give as gifts? Would I just undercoat them then be ok to use emulsion tester posts then varnish or is there a quicker/easier way with different paints? I'm always on the lookout for homemade gift ideas.Just thought these would be fab.

One of the tricks of shabby chic is to buy base items in a neutral colour, then you can keep on using them regardless of the other colours you choose to mix and match them with..........

I have a set of weight scales with a brass scoop, I have had them for years, came from Argos and are very accurate, the smaller weight are brass and the larger ones some form of heavy metal painted black. I clean them from time to time to ensure there is no 'muck' build up on the weights. I have checked them from time to time on a friends scales and they are still accurate.

I am still using pyrex dishes that were bought as a wedding present for me 36 years ago. On occasion, I have thought about getting rid of them, but they are still in good condition and I am glad I kept them.

My one weakness is Vintage sheets and pillow cases. Some you can buy from ebay that have never even been out of the original box, obviously a wedding present that someone has never opened.

Has anyone painted their house using the Farrow and Ball matt emulsion?

How does it compare to other matt paints?

I'm used to living with matt paint (which I love, the finish of it) so I know how it can be and just wondered how it compared for durability, ease of marking etc with other brands?

I was given some pyrex when I got married in 1968. Unfortunately it hasn't lasted as it developed a tendency to explode, even the plates when the food was too hot!

We saw some at a car boot sale, DH pointed it out to me as being 'exploding pyrex'!
