Shabby Chic Thread?

That site just reminded me I got a set of white (POP i assume not looked to closely) letters spelling 'home' from dunhelm last weekend for 4.99.
Havent got Dunhelm near me but I go each time I am visiting family up north - I love it in there!!!

Today I was [STRIKE]drooling [/STRIKE] looking at goodies in a local shop selling CK, Emma Bridgewater, etc, stuff and saw some of those white letters. They were £5 each which I thought was a bit steep so I'm going to hunt around and maybe spell out either 'home' in the hallway or lounge, or 'dream' for the bedroom!
This thread has given me the kick up the bum to get my house sorted once and for all. There are so many unfinished jobs so I went and spent a fortune on fabric today to make a roman blind for my bedroom! Not exactly shabby chic (dark brown with large teal swirly bits on) but gorgeous all the same.Cos I don't shine if you don't shine.0 -

Thanks for the suggestion angelnikki (welcome btw!) but I thought it looked a bit small. Although, I could buy 2 and hang them side by side? *scratches chin*Cos I don't shine if you don't shine.0 -

I love this one but not the price tag! I need something to hang in the hallway for coats, hats, dog leads etc and something more substantial than a bog standard coat rack.
Not quite sure if it qualifies as shabby chic but I thought I'd ask anyway!
TIA

You could e-mail photo to him and see whether he makes to order. (I've not used this site myself but am contemplating buying some simple peg rails)0 -

Thanks for all the handy links and advice. Ive now decided to go for cream storage accessories instead of pink, but liven things up with pink fabrics. That way its not too much of an expence if I change colour schemes at a later date, plus its going to be easier to match cream things rather than various shades of pink!
(having said that I did buy a lovely pink wire 3 tier cake/fruit stand from homebase yesterday, £6.99 then 10% off due to their weekend promotion!)
So now looking at scales, has anyone got any of the following and how easy/difficult are they to read the dials? Ive just read a report an amazon on the vintage typhoon scales and it says they are so hard to measure small amounts. Can I also see what scales you have chosen for this theme please?

Chinatown, I've got these scales from Wilko's http://www.wilkinsonplus.com/invt/0237358 The dial is OK to read and I've measured out baking ingredients no problem. Although, I don't do a huge amout of bakingCos I don't shine if you don't shine.0

I had some like those on the amazon site which I bought in Morrisons. They were useless as they were very inaccurate with small amounts.
I have been thinking about getting the balance ones at argos. Has any one tried those ones?We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0 -
Just come across this site - apologies if it has been mentioned before. I haven't read every page of the page yet. No prices on there though.

I love the balance scales but at the moment I just couldnt justify the cost. Those Wilko scales are just like the typhoon ones and looking at the dial they seem fine. TBH I dont bake that much either and I do have an accurate digital scales which can hide in the cupboard should I need them, lol.
Thanks for that link, I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for the stock coming back in.0
