  • I just had to post a note saying a big thank you to everyone who has posted on this thread. I popped over from the de-cluttering thread intending to be on for a couple of minutes and a couple of hours later I'm still here. ;) You have all really inspired me with your ideas and all your brilliant links and ideas. Maybe once I've got a bit of room having got rid of the junk that I don't want I can have some nice shabby chic bits in my newly streamlined home! Good luck to all of you in finding the pieces you want.

I have been doing shabby chic before it became trendy around 25 years now ,have collected many things from charity shops, auctions etc ,nothing in my house matches and yet people always comment on it I really love the look and always have It is great to be trendy again trouble is it is now more difficult to get bargains because they are now being snapped up by the youngsters.

I love surfing some of these sites for inspiration. It's very gratifying when you work out how to make something for peanuts that looks like the 'expensive' stuff.

    Here's a few more:

Not hugely shabby but there are a couple of nice items on there I'd class as shabby chic. Love the retro decoupage set. I'm quite fond of the heart shaped pancake pan. I'm resisting though.

French country style. Elements of shabby chic and lots of enamelware. Yum!
And it has a sale on.

Way too much good stuff on here. Trying to persuade hubby that a life size mannequin is an absolute neccesity but he's not going for it.

Dibor do fantastic crockery, but it is very expensive (for me), but Ikea do a range :

Which looks quite like some of the stuff Dibor have in shape and is very reasonable.

Does anyone know anywhere online I can buy some of the MDF letters? I tried on ebay but the seller didn't reply to me.

  • I went to Ikea a few weeks ago and saw the Leksvik coat rack in a box on the shelf but couldn't see it on the shop floor or in the catalogue. I didn't buy it because I wasn't sure how it would look. The shoe rack looks great too. I might have to persuade OH to 'pop' to Ikea (almost a 2 hour drive!) once I get paid next week.

Then I'll be scanning the F&B paint charts!

    Thanks triage

Molly ours is just about to go up, I will post a couple of pics for you later so you can see it, I love them as they look the business and for a fraction of the price!

really loving this thread, keep shareing all your photos, links and ideas, please!

*edit - just looked a little closer at that link and I'm not sure that is what you ment :(. It could be worth emailing them and asking what they would charge for letters as they look like they will do orders.
