I've actually been thinking about this since i posted this morning and you're right - it doesn't need to be expensive. I'm thinking it will be easy to start in a small room like my bathroom which is tiny.
I've also realised I can ebay/car boot some of my old soft furnishings/ornaments/bric a brac etc to raise money to "shabby chic" my home :T

This is exactly what I am currently doing - I want a new dinner service - its definately not a need but mine is a bit too contemporary! So I have earmarked a pile for the car boot and e bay so I can have a new more shabby chic one.
I am also planning to sell my 18month old tumble dryer that I barely use so I can put it towards this...in Kareby (pale pink stripe) - for my dining room

  • Has anyone seen something similar to this http://www.cotswoldco.com/uk-info/storage/racks_and_holders/widford_wall_unit/d728.html on their travels? I love this one but not the price tag! I need something to hang in the hallway for coats, hats, dog leads etc and something more substantial than a bog standard coat rack.

Not quite sure if it qualifies as shabby chic but I thought I'd ask anyway!

    TIA :)

If I had girls I would have one of those!!!! There are some gorgeous bits on there but I just had a spend on ebay and have a wish list for Ikea and cath Kidston (I love the cowboys fabric! OH doesn't see how it could work anywhere though) so am going to restrain myself!

That site just reminded me I got a set of white (POP i assume not looked to closely) letters spelling 'home' from dunhelm last weekend for 4.99.
Havent got Dunhelm near me but I go each time I am visiting family up north - I love it in there!!!

I must take pics tomorrow - not that anything is finished but I am happy with some bits..
  • Ow, ow,ow, love the unit, but just LOOK at that price, yes, if any one has seen cheaper, please share!!!
  • I have spend most of the evening reading this thread, "shabby chic" is how i want my flat to be if i can ever afford to move out of mum and dads!
My favourites list has doubled from saving everything i have found on here so thanks to everyone how put up great links.

ebaybaby- could you let me know your seller name? I love the cup and saucer pin cushion.

I saw pamela andersons house on cribs, so suprised her home was so lovely. I did question all the items she called french antiques though, i've seen more antique items in TK Maxx!

    Roll on more photos!
