Hello, just spent all evening looking through this thread! Love it!

Does anyone know if there are online templates or instructions for the writing that is used on the East of India plaques or http://www.primnproperfunnyfolk.co.uk/userimages/procart3.htm like this please?

Having had a 4 year break of 'home making' this thread was just the inspiration I needed to get back into it. Thank you!

Wizz, I do that kind of writing when I make something.

If you have someting to practice off, and write out an alphabet for yourself to copy it's not so hard.

To be honest it does not need to be exactly the same, because it's meant to be Prim any raggedy bits just kind of blend in.. and if you are doing the prim type writing where the letters have a dot at each end than even better, I find the dots tend to hide any bits that might not be so good.

Just have a go, honest, you'll surprise yourself!

I made loads of these at Christmas, for friends, writing freehand, and even though they did not turn out perfect, because they are meant to be Prim looking, it was fine.




Edited to add: if you find a site that enables you to downl;oad free fonts you can search through them until you find one that looks like the writing you are looking for and then copy and practice with it.

pipkin that is beautiful i wouldn't be able to put that away at the end of christmas!!!! I would have to stretch the meaning to spring summer and autumn too!!

My friend made me a christmas tree decoration with wire and buttons and I still have it out...

I think a handmade gift made for you is the best gift ever - sadly a lot of my friends are not like minded:rolleyes:

You can get MDF letters from www.reallylindabarker.co.uk I have some in my kitchen saying EAT!
I also have bought some from here http://www.vialetter.com/
Which reminds me of a blog some of you might like http://www.yvestown.com/ have a look through she has some great ideas for doing up furniture etc.

Thanks VP the Yvestown blog is a great read, her home is beautiful. I've ordered 'home' and 'dream' letters from vialetter.
