  • Triage999 thats awful news, your friend must be heart broken. Ive had a friend who went through this same thing 6 weeks ago, she thought they were happier than they'd ever been, he said he didnt love her any more. Anyway after a trail separation and a few relate sessions they seem to back on track though it will take time, and they are moving back intogether this week. So I hope things can work out for your friend too.

Bought a bargain today! Marie Curie has loads of 'shabby chic' things in their new items that they get supplied to a lot of their shops in bulk. I bought a cream enamel square biscuit tin for £2.50, it had been reduced from £6.95. They also have loads of different sized plant pots/accessorie pots/herb pots in a faded floral design, pale pink with flowers and striped edging and a pale green one with pink flowers. The big ones had been reduced to £1 and the smaller ones were £2 (odd but they checked the pricing and it was right lol). So Im going back tomorow for a few more odds and ends. They also had a few sets of 2 different sized round boxes in blue with pink flowers, just like Cath Kidston design.
So Im guessing as its part of their 'proper stock' there might be some bargains left in your areas too. Worth a try!

Thanks for adding the link I forgot guys :) manic day!

Best laid plans always go out of the window don't they!, I had decided to spend the day gathering all my craft items together and seeing what I could use up, this was not to be the case.

Phone call at 08:00 am from best friend to say her dh had just turned over in bed and told her it was all over :( I was so gutted for her! so I picked up her little one to give her some thinking space while another friend helped her pick up the pieces :(

So the day was spent doing kids things :)

So far I am 3 days into my 9 off with nothing achieved...........ho hum.

NOTHING ACHIEVED? you helped your friend in her hour of need, a BIG achievment I would say. How sad for her.

  • Thanks everyone :)

And yes I guess I achieved comfort in knowing that I am there for a friend!

Just sorted through some fabric and have quite a few Laura Ashley remnants that I think I will make a few stuffed hearts out of :)

With all the chat about Dunelm Mill it reminded me that Matalan are worth a look for accessories for our 'style'.

Awww look at these gorgeous oilcloth bags/purses/aprons. It's an american site though.... http://all-pop.com/oilcloth_category_01.html
(most of the products are pop culture, but the bags have a bit of a shabby chic style about them)
:T*Thanks to all who posts comps * :j

My one weakness is Vintage sheets and pillow cases. Some you can buy from ebay that have never even been out of the original box, obviously a wedding present that someone has never opened.
I love vintage bedclothes too! I got a lovely purple floral patterned flanelette double sheet and pillowcase set c.1970s and still unopened from eBay. I think it was about £12 including p&p. Bargain!
I recently got a nice white vintage bedspread at auction for £3.53 (£3 hammer price + fees) but I'm slightly concerned that it's labelled dry clean only. That would cost a fortune for a double bedspread, and if I were using it then it would need cleaned fairly regularly. I'm hoping the reason for the instruction is that it predates tumble driers and is so heavy it might stretch out of shape if hung up to dry for hours (or days if indoors), so I might get away with washing and tumble drying it.

Just seen this posted on Colchester freecycle website

That would certainly look super painted white
To each their own: personally I think painting it white would spoil it. I much prefer the natural metal sheen on things like that. This is my mirror2008-02-18mirror.jpg
which I bought very cheaply at a car boot sale. I've also had some good bargains from my local charity shops and auction house, and if there are items I don't want in mixed auction lots I can sometimes sell them on ebay to fund more shabby chic purchases. I currently have a set of vintage Irish linen napkins listed on ebay which I would keep if I had a dining table, but there's nowhere to put one in my flat.

Oh dear I have just been outbid for a lovely linen sheet on ebay. My maximum was £25 and it went for £44.
