vintagepleasure I do copy from books but adapt the images to make them fit with what I happen to be painting, so some measuring and tearing out hair happens a lot! I also add squirly bit and peices. Also I pencil in the design so I know where it's going to go, this will be covered by the paint. I just use acrylic paints. Havn't done any painting for a while now so I am going to treat myself and order some new paintbrushes and other stuff.
Mary43 Go for the stencils you know you want to! I think I made the mistake when I did stencil was to use too much paint so it was very heavy looking and blobby. I now know that you should only use a minute amount of paint and you can build it up. The Stencil Library has some fantastic designs.0 -

Hi all clever peeps, looking at that lovely painted furniture reminds me of a kit I bought years ago from a well known shopping channel. The lady was Donna Dewberry it came with a instruction video and all the paint and paint brushes. She made It look so easy, but I never got to grips with it, didn't have the time what with work and kids. I still have the kit somewhere if It has'nt all dried up, might look for it and have another go it was very country chic. I had posted a link to her website but have taken it off in case it was advertising.”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)
Put on some lipstick
and pull yourself together”

I just had a look at onestroke - was that the website you meant? - there are some lovely things on there especially the stencils (which all seem to be unavailable though). Worth a look for ideas I think.... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

Yes thats the one I don't know if that quality shopping channel sells her stuff anymore I tend not to go near them now as I get carried away. I agree she has some lovely projects that could be copied using ordinary paint and brushes, I've seen those wedge type brushes in pound shops too. I will have a practice on some cardboard or lining paper.”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)

Hi all...................really getting to want to paint something and can't start anything now as I'm off to see my Mum at the care home and not back till Wednesday night.
Told OH we must go to focus do it all and get some paint cos my kitchen cupboards are looking that depressed...............than, once I get in painting mode...........dad's tray - to stencil or not to stencil ?............definitely going to stencil a cornflower on the front of our bedside cupboards (not told OH that yet-but he probably wouldn't notice anyway)
European market in town today...........lovely to wander around and look at the lovely stuff but only bought some cheese and a string of smoked garlic.......then sort of fell into charity shop and came out with two cushions in greens and rust/red tapestry (no idea where to put them at the minute -must think before OH comes back from his pint or several)...........a wire plant trough for the kitchen window sill and a little painting of a flower on canvas.
All came to £4.70 so not bad really.Mary
