hmmm not too good at this picture thingy. The pictures are some x stitch ones. The chest of drawers are two stacked on top of each other with the handles removed and knobs put on instead (although one is missing from when we moved) They were the first things I ever painted and were quite manky! They were in my daughters bedroom for years, she's moved on so its in mine! Some more photos to follow if you are still interested?

Always interested in new photos :)

    I love the drawers!!

I love your dresser Mollymop5. In fact I have been looking on ebay to see if there are any near me but unfortunately not. When I do get one I want to get a collection of pink things much to hubs disgust (not really he's more interested in his shed)!

These were all old bits of war economy furniture that we picked up over the years, usually from tips or if an auction couldnt sell we used to pick up old furniture to chop up for our wood burner (for free, did them a favour and us as well :rotfl: )As the children got older and I had more free time and wanted to tidy up the house and make it look a bit smarter but not having the money , got some books from the library and away I went.....lots and lots of mistakes along the way tho:o .

Hmmm I seem to have taken over the thread! All these items were painted with emulsion (no particular make the cheaper the better!) The cupboard which houses the bedroom tv (as you can see by the areail...need to thread it thro the back) was mixed with acrylic paints and sploshed on then rubbed off. The green chest of drawers I painted the undercoat with green emulsion and then put a lighter green on top and while it was still wet laid newspaper on top and lightly stroked it down and whipped it off. Which left a pleasing ramden pattern.I think its called frogging?

pennib - what a fabulous job you've made of those pieces of furniture. Did you paint the designs yourself or use stencils ? The best I got in that area were some blue flowers at each corner of my wardrobe (freebie I painted cream) and a four drawer chest of drawers (also freebie) and I did that to match the wardrobe as they stood side by side.
Well done you. You've certainly got a nack for it.
Weve got a couple of bedside cupboars (freebies again as they're only plywood) and I've got as far as painting them cream and tried to do a blue line round the edge of the door - not happy with it so packed up then............lol

Mollymop - go by the old saying 'if in doubt.......don't'. If you're not sure about painting the dresser, leave it for a bit, live with it as it is and see how you feel after a few weeks. Last thing you want to do is paint it and wish you hadn't.

I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !

Thank you Mary43 it's kind of you to say. They were all painted free hand (but I got the patterns from books and adapted them) I did go through a stencil stage when it was all the rage in the early 90's but it wasn't my thing so I went onto 'folk art/shabby chic' painting. It is very forgiving if you make mistakes as who knows but you!

This was an old tin trunk of grandads, we now use it for all the family photos overflow! The pattern is based on a German design that the ladies use to store their trousseaus (I know that word is spelt wrong:o )
    Off to watch spiderman2 now.
