vintagepleasure - they look brilliant ! Thanks for that link. Can;t find out how to stick the pegs on (or are the screwed on somehow?) but maybe woodglue would do it.
I would imagine they are attached with wood glue but you could nail them from the back aswell I supose.

Some questions, if anyone can help please:

1 My box is a varnished, veneered wood. I plan to sand it down and then use white undercoat and satinwood top coat, which is what I did on a nest of tables last year. Do I NEED to prime it first? I'm not sure what primer does that is different to undercoat but I will buy some if need be..?

2 For the lining - can anyone give me a better idea of what to do. I have bought a blue/white floral polycotton and hve PVA and bostik. How do I make the corners neat? Should I fold over the edges and press it so that there is a 'hem' on the underside?

I will be so very grateful for any help anyone can offer....

    Annie xx
Hi Annie, no need to go buying paint after sanding you can use ordinary emulsion paint, I usually use two coats one light [any white/off white I have left] followed by a top coat of the colour I want, as per my earlier message you can use up little tester pots, for this I often mix a few together to get the colour I want mix white or cream in to lighten or a dark colour to darken [remember mixing paints at school]. Finish off with either a coat of wax or use a satin varnish for a more durable finish, remember the wax/varnish will darken the colour slightly so allow for this.
Your PVA is fine to stick the lining in. A really good tip is to cutout pieces of cardboard to fractionally smaller than size if the inside and a little shorter than the height, you can then lightly pad the front of these with some dacron [old pillow/quilt filling] cut you material larger than the cardboard so this covers the front nad folds over to the back [hope this makes sense] then glue the material in place on the back. Then simply glue your car inners in place, sides first base last.

Fantastic advice, thank you - I'd never have thought to use ardboard! Lucky I forgot to put the recycling out for a few weeks.... :)

Love it vintage pleasure !! We haven't got a dresser in the garden but we have got a shelf rack on one wall above where the herb pots are........I put some little half hanging baskets on it (so far not put anything in them ........lol) and there's a couple of old jugs hanging on hooks, along with an old trowel thats beyond use. Keep trying to think of other bits to put on it that wont be bothered if they get weathered a bit.

hmmm I was typing and my post disappeared!

Ooohhh I love a show and tell thread. So I have come out of lurkdom to say all the projects that you are doing are lovely. What a GREAT thread and it would be a pity for it to loose its momentum. As you were asking for photos here is my contribution if you would like to look at them!:D

hmmm not too good at this picture thingy. The pictures are some x stitch ones. The chest of drawers are two stacked on top of each other with the handles removed and knobs put on instead (although one is missing from when we moved) They were the first things I ever painted and were quite manky! They were in my daughters bedroom for years, she's moved on so its in mine! Some more photos to follow if you are still interested?

Well my dresser has arrived and I love it. I'm not sure whether to leave it or paint it.The colour maches my rocking chair which I can't bare to paint at the moment. My table is painted though so I could paint it to match. What do you think?
