is it just me or has this thread all but stopped now

i used to log on and not be able to keep up with the pages, but these days theres hardly anyone on here

i know the new ones started, but seems such a shame, as everyone said they would still post on here too

hey ho, shame really, but s'pose all good things must come to an end:(

Oops must admit I haven't posted much either recently, all my projects have come to a standstill, my dresser is still not finished:o, and the leg dropped off one of my little tables:rotfl:, really must try and get some of these finished! Sootypea I have the same tables as you and was going to do something similar (will have to glue the leg back on first tho':D). I also have a deckchair like yours lurking in the shed somewhere, so may well be asking for advice on recovering them.

Really MUST get myself a camera sorted out and work out how to do photos.

Must admit that I've been banned from starting anything new, till our terrible storage probs have been sorted in the kitchen:o

I would lurve a dresser/60s style cabinet[remember we had one of those when I wuz a wikkul gerl:p ] but really REALLY have nowhere to put it:mad: cuz that would save building summat from scratch. BUT! I'm looking forward to chiccin it once its done:j

A [STRIKE]good[/STRIKE] few pages back, someone was asking for ideas on a little MDF table........what about cutting shapes into the legs. I've been trying to do an arty thing but can't get it to work! but was thinking along the lines of cutting 'stems' for a bunch of grapes, then painting the greapes onto the 'stems'....& cutting an apple 'core' & painting the apple around it.

I know what I'm talking about:rotfl: & if I can get me art to work I'll post later!

Hello every-one. I havent posted on here for a while. To be quite honest the `new` thread/website seems to have mucked it up for me a bit. I have decided I will post any pics here, as I find it easier. I am currently trying to finish off painting a small shelf which i want to put in my kitchen. I have primed it and hope to paint it today. This morning i was passing some charity shops and bought this............2461449474_5106eae0ee_m.jpg A retro style juicer. It cost me 2 squid.:)
My style is a bit mish mash, old worldy, retro, sometimes shabby chic. But I am happy with this thanks to something Haribo said about buying things you like and it will give come together. That really gave me the confidence to go with what I like even if its slightly mismatched. I will post pics when i finally finish the shelves. Its great to be posting again. Hope other people return here too. :)

Love the juicer elaine! Well done - will you use it? I have a juicer that I'm thinking of freecycling as I never use it, not nearly as nice as yours tho'!

Sootypea, I think your deck chairs are amazing!
I am ancient enough to remember the 1970s with great affection and I am sure there was a craze for renovating deck chairs and director's chairs as you have done. Unfortunately, my family was very untrendy, so it was faded canvas and like it in our garden, until the fabric split through sheer old age and the chair collapsed under my dad... it was renewed with lurid plastic stripes (as in your 'before' pic) after that!

Icandream, I LOVE your sewing box and have bought something similar in a boot sale today for £8.

I'm really excited to de-lurk and start posting here about my own project. All the before and after pics are so inspiring... I have so far got to the stage of taking before pics and getting my dad's help to take the box to pieces... :D

Some questions, if anyone can help please:

1 My box is a varnished, veneered wood. I plan to sand it down and then use white undercoat and satinwood top coat, which is what I did on a nest of tables last year. Do I NEED to prime it first? I'm not sure what primer does that is different to undercoat but I will buy some if need be..?

2 For the lining - can anyone give me a better idea of what to do. I have bought a blue/white floral polycotton and hve PVA and bostik. How do I make the corners neat? Should I fold over the edges and press it so that there is a 'hem' on the underside?

I will be so very grateful for any help anyone can offer....

    Annie xx
