Most of these items I got from second hand shops, some made by my children when they were at school and a couple I bought on holiday.

My dresser was made by a local joiner, he makes all sorts I believe. I was passing his house and he had a photo of it, for sale in his window. He had made it for his home but I think his wife didn't want it. So although it was second hand to me it was newly made. It is getting a bit tatty now and marked as it is not made from hardwood. The day I got, I was working at the time and I just wanted to stay off work and look at it:rotfl:

That really is lovely :T Well done on your 'finds', they go together so well. Brilliant.

Have a look at this cottage :eek::eek: I'd be sick if I lived there and my grand son would soon clear up some of the clutter :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I dream of somewhere like that, but it must remain a fantasy as 30 seconds and OH would have reduced the place to a tip, broken most of the china and left huge dirty footprints across the floor  . And that would be before he plonked his backside onto the chairs and broke them.

I can't have embroidered or lacy cushions and anything with beads ends up as a health hazard - the beads get ground into tiny glass shards  .

Most of our furniture is hulkingly huge, incredibly sturdy or re-inforced.
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.
  • Hello shabbsters or should that be chicsters?

Hope you have all had a nice weekend.

I thought I would share some of my charity shop finds with you - so here you are

Below are a set 6 of turqouise napkins (30p)
Blue, red and white checked small tablecloth (5p)
Checked on one side/flowered on the other side cushion cover (25p)
    IMG_1916.jpg

    White cushion cover (15p)
    IMG_1917.jpg

1950's tuliped pattern table cloth (75p)
    IMG_1918.jpg

Striped double sheet (1p!!) This reminds me of my childhood in the 80's
    IMG_1919.jpg

Two door handles (50p the pair)
    IMG_1925.jpg

Pink bon bon dish - not a great photo (£1)
    IMG_1927.jpg

Cornishware (5p as it wasn't priced!)
    IMG_1928.jpg

My lovely (yes, you read that right) mother in law gave me this table cloth that she made as a child in the 1950's. And I adore it.
    IMG_1920.jpg

And I thought I would show you this rocking chair that we rescued from a skip ages ago. It was falling apart and an ugly orange pine colour. I tarted it up and added a pink shawl I made and a a cushion from ikea along with an ikea seat pad.

  • AnneGeddes, aren't they really cute? They couldn't be passed up at that price. I think I am going to use them on a cabinet that I got last week, either that or wait until we move (god only knows when that will be) and see if there is anywhere to use them in that house.

So far I've seen the twin of my gran's sewing box on legs that went to furniture heaven quite a few years ago, Daisy has posted the twin to the double sheet I use for a dustsheet when I'm painting - one of a pair given to me as a wedding present in the mid 60's by a distant aunt, and believe it or not the twin of a red/white/blue tablecloth I had years ago. If I was of an imaginative turn of mind I'd say I also recognise the embroidery pattern on the traycloth. This is turning into All My Yesterdays :o

Here's a challenge: what colour do I emulsion my kitchen walls? I want to change to green but don't fancy lime, and every pale green reminds me of postwar green distemper  Help !
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Daisy_steiner, what wonderful buys and so cheap too. None of the charity shops near me are that cheap. For example the checked tablecloth would be at least £2.50

Our kitchen walls are a sort of light sage type green - well a bit like the border that runs along the Reply to Thread text at the top here only maybe a bit more on the 'green' side. I',m about to get some paint of some sort to do the kitchen cupboards a proper sage green.............sent off for free samples from the crown website but didn't get the little pots of paint I hoped for. Still, one of the colours is just right so I'll take it along to Focus with me for a match up.

I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !

DaisySteiner I LOVE that vinegar jar - real bargain that!

Errata - I think it was me that posted the picture of the sewing box before! As you've asked I've taken pics of my car boot bargains today. I was only there literally 15 minutes and then the heavens opened and everyone started packing up :o(

Love this - little tray for 50p
    tray.jpg

and these are 2 single flat sheets with 2 pillowcases to match, all for £1. One of the sheets is going to be a tablecloth!
