    that dresser looks fab
Thanks - and thanks for the advice from everyone. I took down all the teddy bears, searched around in kitchen cupboards and found some bits and pieces. It does look much nicer now. (You can see how it looked before on page 167.

I am not speaking from experience as up to now I've not used either but I do know you have to be careful what varnish you use as they can 'yellow' over time. I also know paint takes a long time to really harden so would leave it a week before doing anything.

oh thats what im scared of dont want it to go yellow, anyone got any suggestions?

If I remember, it is the oil based varnish that goes yellow, better check though.

    Does anyone know about upholstery?

The nursing chair I bought yesterday needs the cushion support completely replacing. I've read up on how to do it, but I'm not sure what type of webbing and tacks to use, or the best place to buy them?

Liz - I bought a whole lot of upholstery bits (webbing, calico, foam, padding etc) from this company to re-upholster a long stool

Shipping costs depend on the cost of your order - see Information on the website. I was extremely pleased with the quality of the goods sent and the speed in which they sent them. Hope this helps. They are based in Worthing.

I am sure there will be some sort of tuturial on YouTube!

Yes - that was good advice. It brings the room 'together' nicely. My husband does like it. I love it! On the table I put a small square of red cloth and placed a shallow blue bowl of fruit on top. I will replace the lamp with a brass/ceramic type with a colour that picks up from the picture.
Now the room is a pleasure to live in.
I can't thank you all enough

I look forward to seeing more of all your wonderful ideas/projects and 'finds'

That looks really nice with the china on, the rich colours go well with the pale wood. I filled my dresser with all the things I find in junk shops so if you want it fuller and don't have much crockery, you can pick lovely second hand things up quite cheaply. How nice to have something in your home made by your husband.

Do you have a picture of your dresser?

    I hope this link works:o

Most of these items I got from second hand shops, some made by my children when they were at school and a couple I bought on holiday.

My dresser was made by a local joiner, he makes all sorts I believe. I was passing his house and he had a photo of it, for sale in his window. He had made it for his home but I think his wife didn't want it. So although it was second hand to me it was newly made. It is getting a bit tatty now and marked as it is not made from hardwood. The day I got, I was working at the time and I just wanted to stay off work and look at it:rotfl:
