Have a look at this cottage :eek::eek: I'd be sick if I lived there and my grand son would soon clear up some of the clutter :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

She has some really pretty china but you cant see it for the muddles, what a shame! I'd have a permanent headache if I lived there. ;)
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

Thanks for advice all, think that I will have a go at the ones where the dowels are only loose, so that a minimum of interference from me is necessary...have a book might read up and see where I go from there

Regarding the No More Nails for the chairs.

I once had problems attaching a wooden toilet roll holder to the wall and in desperation stuck it with NMN assuming it would fall off due to being "pulled" when the loo paper was taken.

I moved house about 2 years later and it was still stuck on the wall!!

That house makes me nauseous just looking at it.I think it would really stress me out having all that stuff everywhere. It just all blurs into one. But each to his own I guess!

I only managed to look at a bit of it before I had to close the page! It's far to OTT!

I've been an avid reader of this thread for a while now...Some of the stuff you lot have done is amazing! Well done!

Now,Do any of you live in Nottingham? I have a plate rack which need's a new home as I have no where to put it. It's pine with detailing around the top...It's beautiful. Very country cottage type.

Blimey, that cottage of the month is rather eye-wateringly awful
Too too much for me :)

OK, clever creative people, I have a decorating problem. I've just acquired a wardrobe for my dds that I want to paint white so it fits in better with their new bedroom. Dh wants me to paint it so you can still see the wood grain as this would match the bunkbeds, but I've no idea how to do this. Any ideas? It's currently a rather yellowy pine with a very shiny varnish/lacquer surface.

Hopefully you be able to see it

Hi Myrtle. My DD has the same bunks as yours and I think to get that effect on the wardrobe you would need to sand it down really well to remove all the existing varnish then just apply a colour wash. I did it on an unvarnished wardrobe with just watered down emulsion then coated it in a clear matt varnish. Here is a pic.

    Hi Myrtle,
Have you visited www.housetohome.co.uk sorry but I can't remember how to make a hyperlink. There are also lots of websites about decorating techniques. If you type the finish you want into google etc. you should find something.

That looks beautiful Haribo. I've just remembered I've got some varnish-removing Nitromorse so I'll have a go with that tomorrow. Thanks :)
