The thing is they're such a good storage unit there's nothing new to compare I don't tnink.

Do you have any pics, did you have to paint it?

It does not need painting ,in good condition but I am redoing the utility room and so it is to have blue doors to match in with what I am doing in there ,will post pictures when I am finished could be another week as I am finishing of the bedroom this weekend.

    Hello again ...

Well I have been away for a few days at my Mum's in Bognor Regis - it is so beautiful there I never want to come home!

Anyway, I have more or less finished my latest project ... here are the before and after pics ... it's not totally done as there is some touching up to do, but more or less. I have had a disaster though, but will post about that tomorrow as too tired now and need to go to bed!!!

and AFTER (painted in Farrow and Ball something or other, can't remember!!)

There was some wallpaper very similar to this in one of my local charity shops for 50p a roll. I think there was 3 rolls. I had no use for it - I should have bought it and put it on ebay! :D

All these wonderful ideas, there's only one thing lacking for me and that's time. (sigh).

    Morning ladies

Well I have posted the pictures of the dresser that I painted (above), but I have a bit of a problem with it, which I hope you can help with.

First of all I sanded it all down quite thoroughly. I initially painted it with Homebase own oil based paint but just quickly as after a few strokes I wasn't all that keen on the colour, so I kind of used that as an "undercoat" if you like. I then painted it with Farrow and Ball oil based eggshell. When I tried to put the shelves back in yesterday (which was a bit tricky), some of the paint started coming off, where the edges of the shelves were rubbing onto it.

The thing is that the paint was literally PEELING off, in strips. Not just chipping, iyswim. Like strips of sellotape??? I am SO disappointed. I had to try and touch it up and you can't see it too much because it's inside, but I just don't understand?

I thought that F&B oil based eggshell was going to be quite "hardy"? Can anyone help please and tell me what I did wrong before I tackle my next project?

    Tia.

What kind of paint finish was the Homebase one, and did you rub it down between coats to give it a 'key' that could be the problem. It is gutting when that happens!

Was the homebase oil based paint a solo one ie one coat? That may be the problem.
We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.
