Thank you everybody and especially to vintagepleasure for your advice. I should have realised when I took the shelves out because they were tight getting them out. And the way you've explained the paint being like a "skin that peels off" is EXACTLY what has happened.
I am hoping to paint some more bits and perhaps sell them on, so all this is a good learning curve really. I shall keep my dresser and learn from the experience!
Sorry about my mini strop earlier!! I just felt really upset that nobody had commented because I had spent so much time on it!! I'm daft like that lol!!

Oh, and here is a close up of the pink plates and cups. They were a 40th birthday present from a friend.
The crockery IS Emma Bridgewater - more pressies from friends over the years, I love it!

jsut thought id share with you... currently in the process of trying to pretty up, shabby chic my back yard as its not very pleaseing to look at.. anyways yesterday big skip in the road with a wrough iron garden table in there, no one to ask so my hubby took it !!!.. im going to paint it in a pale green the same colour im goign to paint my gate and trellis that goes around the gate ( which i got free off freecycle!!) really pleased as i needed a little table.. all i need now is a set of chairs.. i'll have to keep my eyes peeled!!
love the dresser bibbly by the way. its come out lovely..i know what you mean about peeling paint. .i painted a little cupboard for my bathroom like that, and it was a nightmare..i just kept sanding over it to make it more of a rougher surface so that the paint had somthing to cling onto instead of being a smooth shiny type surface,
it looks fine though and the bits inside are lovely.. i love your tres chic cup and saucer!0 -
Thought I would include some photos of the little cabinet I got today.
I plan to sand it and prime it tomorrow and then line the insides with some pink striped Laura Ashley wallpaper and then paint it a heritage green colour. Oh and I plan to change the handles too.
I like the shape.
The photos seem to be a bit on the large size oh and despite me rotating them to the right angle they have flipped back round.
Please let me know what you think of it - do you think I am wasting my time?
Please ignore the decor - we live in a rented house.Anyone fancy buying my degree? It will only cost you £18k.

daisy_steiner I think the cabinet is gorgeous. I just love little cabinets like that and always want to buy them even though I have hardly any more space for anything like that.
Shall look forward to seeing the finished result!

Bibbly I was going to as soon as I'd read the last page.
It looks wonderful. The little heart really sets it off. The only place I could have one of these is in my living room and I think they're more for kitchens really, aren't they?
