Bibbly - the dresser looks wonderful. Where are you putting it?
We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.

  • Hi fellow osers! I had to drop by to let you all know I think you are all marvellous and crafty and creative. Bibbly, I love your dresser and all the bargains you guys have picked up have been amazing!

I sat and read this thread last night and finished it off today and wanted to let you all know that you have truly inspired me. I have spent today cleaning up my kitchen and bathroom and trying to make use of what I already have.
When we first moved into our house we didn't have any money so we got everything from junk shops, jumble sales, car boots, charity shops (there was no internet then so no freecycle unfortunately as it was 1991) I was proud that I was so thrifty and especially loved kitchenalia but time wore on and most of it got relegated to the garage and what with the kids coming along and work I never had much time so as long as things were clean and tidy I didn't bother much with the fancy side of thigs. Well, I've had a wake up call and have been rummaging in the garage for bits (good job I don't throw much out) and have found some lovely ornaments. I have spruced up the bathroom with nice jars and ribbons which were just rubbish really but look nice. I never knew that my style was shabby chic until I read this thread! I always called it 'eclectic' as nothing ever matched.

Anyway my latest venture is getting the kids to do paintings and I'm going to get some frames from junk shops and put them all on the wall, its so nice to see them up.

Thank you guys for inspiring me, the kitchen and bathroom look lovely and fresh now and I haven't spent a penny!

Haribo, I have just been browsing your photo's of your kitchen - only got through the first three..lol. I was just wondering where did you get your book "The Victorian Housewifes Friend"? I just love all these sort of books, anything do with Victorian or PreWar times I am a complete sucker for :)

I also love the way you have done your larder cupboard too :D I do hope you don't mind but when I do up my kitchen, when it is eventually refitted this year, but I would really like to use your kitchen photos as a guide. :D I am hoping to have a cream/pink and chrome kitchen - well that is the plan anyway. :D

I think your dresser came up lovely Bibbly. The colour really suits it.
Daisy - love the little cupboard. Your carpet is exactly the same as mine except mine's blue. :D

I still haven't got around to doing my spoony sign yet. Been busy crocheting squares for the other thread. I've polished them up, that's about it so far. ;)
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

  • Thought I would include some photos of the little cabinet I got today.

Please let me know what you think of it - do you think I am wasting my time?

edit..... thinking about it you might be able to turn the oven into an incubator...with the right type of heat plates etc

It is gorgeous looking - re the icubator idea I think that you might have more chance of an answer on the new rural thread on the Greenfingered forum.

This is the first time I've posted on this thread. I've been reading through it for quite awhile, taking in ideas and see all the wonderful things that everyone has done in their homes.

We're moving at the end of May, and I finally get to really start doing some decorating and sprucing up of our home. I can't wait! This could be a very very dangerous place for me! :D
