TBH, I could have got away with a single quilt as I don't want it to cover the whole bed so it is currently folded in half so if you use it like that, the single should be fine. They really are huge.
Just phoned my nearest aldi 15 miles away, they have only a couple left, they said they flew off the shelves, so I think I have missed to boat.0 -

a lovely ebay site, I bought my first ever purchase from this lady and she sells lovely shabby chic items. She has a painted dresser ( pick up only ) on at the moment and a small glimpse into her cottage.0 -
after an afternoon at the dentist:eek: with having a root filling, another deep filling AND a tooth out:eek:  i just feel like having a nice quiet night.. hubby has just left as his band is playing tonight.. so i am now eventually getting round to painting one of my dumb waiters....:j :j
something nice and peacefull to do,
so hopefull in a day or so i will post some pics...might even get round to painting the chair that i got..... the guy in the units next to me is a furniture restorer, and his is going to re-foam and cover it for me for free, as i allways make him a cup of tea when he is in his unit, so cant fault that...
i also hoping over the next week or so to change our duvet to sheets and blankets....i have a lovely old welsh quilt.....which came into work.... there are some little holes but i am sure i can darn then.... so will not distract away from the quilt....and THEN just need to re-paper/decorate the bedroom to match...lol....Work to live= not live to work0 -

I am going to paint my new oak kitchen doors and since OH has agreed reluctantly I don't want to get it wrong.
When I painted my dresser for the conservatory I used an acrylic eggshell from Craig and Rose. Am worried that this sort of paint would not be hard enough wearing for a kitchen. Please can I have some advice .........thanks
Everybody has different opinions but oil based paint is best for hard wearing areas. You could always go over the acryclic with a matt varnish for extra strength.
I have painted some of my low kitchen cupboards in a cream arcylic eggshell and they have kept well for the last 2 years withstanding 2 kids, dog, cat & husband.
I don't know what everyone else prefers but I find acrylic so much better and not as messy when cleaning after
PS Can I have your husband when you have finished with him!!!! Mine won't let me paint the rest of the dated cupboards0 -

They are soooo cute :-) & would be really easy to copy?
Hope you are feeling better.0 -
I thought I would paint a little cheap black table - unlikely to be solid wood. I sanded it, primed it, gave it one coat of paint and resanded. Unfortunately when I sanded it the second time (I can't remember how sandpaper is graded but the one I used this time was 'less rough' than the one I used the first time) some of the primer and paint came off and it's back to the black.
I am using Craig & Rose Opulence multi-surface primer and eggshell paint in White Chocolate (not that the colour should make any difference). Can anyone tell me what I've done wrong as I've not painted furniture before?Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts - DFW Nerd 323

If it's melamine you might be better using a special paint for melamine as an undercoat.0 -

Thanks Haribo. I'll call into the DIY shop tomorrow to find some. I'm glad I started with something small.Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts - DFW Nerd 323

or you could use a gesso paint - i bought mine from the works and its used on products where the paint wouldnt stick ie shiney surfaces etc. It gives the paint a base to cling to - i use it on playing cards etc to make artist trading cards and have used it on journal covers etc where the surface is shineyWin £2012 in 2012 challenge 0/2012
