Right girls I need your help!!!!!!

It is my turn to host our weekly dinner party for six girlfriends (one is vegetarian) I would like to incorporate my shabby chic items but have no ideas other than a Tea Party which seems a bit naff to be honest and if I served cucumber sandwiches with crusts off I am sure they would not come again :rotfl: :rotfl:

What can I do??? what foods can I serve? and any ideas for surrounding temporary decor?

    HELP

Triage999 - not sure if this is the sort of china you want, but my SIL got a set called Arv from IKEA which looks great in her shabby chic home. I'll try to do a link (scratches head and frowns)......

Hi, Right hit the floor running this morning got up real early baked some bread buns, done some ironing and just voted for triage! Phew! now I've sat down for a well earned cuppa I was wondering if any of you clever people would help me decide on my adult sons bedroom colour scheme. He works away a lot so just uses his bedroom here as a base. The bedroom suite is pine so would paint up fine, but like most males he would'nt want the white girly look but I wondered if I still could get a shabbyish look but masculine. The room can be dark as it is North facing. Ta in advance

My next aim is a large crochet blanket to drape over my settee in my kitchen diner. The ones on ebay go for alot more than i want to pay.

It may be a good idea to ask in the charity shops if they know of anyone (old ladies) who would be willing to crochet you a throw. In my hometown there are often small crochet blankets for sale that have been made especially for the shop.

I need to decide on my eldest's (12) room too soon as we are converting the loft for him. If you want a shabbyish look I would go with maybe pale blue and a darkish red or perhaps blue and cream with a nice old quilt. There are loads on ebay and even with shipping from the USA they don't work out too expensive. I'm quite liking brown and pale blue at the moment and https://www.aspace.co.uk have a lovely star quilt in those colours although I would never pay their prices for it! We put wood panelling round the bottom half my youngest boy's room which shabby's it up and is very cheap from DIY stores. You could put a peg rail around the top edge of it to finish it off. Nice old prints would finish the look nicely too, I'm looking for old rugby ones for DS.

Or those "friends of the hospital" type places always have them although usually in baby colours. I'm making a red/white/blue one for my youngest's toddlers bed but they take absolutely ages and the last one I started I never finished! Actually it's very, very easy to make a granny square if you set your mind to it and I'm convinced that if I can do it absolutely anyone can as I'm useless with these things and can't knit very well. I made my MIL sit down with me until I cracked it!
  • Jinny - I actually meant shaker kind of style with ginghams etc:
