    Hi all,

I've finally finished reading this thread, it's taken me about 3 weeks. lol!

Just wanted to say it's been really inspiring. I've spent the bank holiday shabby chiccing my bedroom and not spent any money (well £2 on an embroidered tablecloth from charity shop) so very mse! Just rearranged and did a bit of freecycling!

I'm now on a mission to do the rest of the house. Off work next week so think I'm going to tackle my bathroom! I've been trying to ignore it as I thought it so naff and have grand plans (that will cost a fortune so years away) so was just dreaming about that! However I've discovered a new love for the flowery brown tiles and avocado suite (yes really!). I think I can make it look quite vintage if I just 'go' with the look. If i can [STRIKE]steal[/STRIKE]borrow DD's digital camera I'll post some pics (if I can work out how to do it).

Hey girlies :) (We have no men yet!!!)

I have had a rather hectic weekend and have not been around much so apologies :) just been catching up on all of your lovely projects! I am chuffed to bits that this thread is going from strength to strength!!! and welcome to all the new faces :)

Today I have been finalising my kitchen plans (after seething most of the day when 15 yr old daughter got caught smoking out of bedroom window) which I will be ordering at the end of this week/beginning of next! just trying to see if we can save some of the £3000 that they want to fit it by employing our own independant fitter!

    Now.......................

Hubby said I can have a couple of pressies for my new kitchen! so I have chosen this

    YellowArtisan.jpg

I have been after one for ages and to find it in the same colour as my Rare Le Crueset saucepan set also in this colour is a bonus!!

I was desperately after a new dinner service but I am stuck on what to get :( last year I saw a new set launching called Wobbleware or something along those lines, it looked like pottery plates that had been left to go mis shaped slightly then fired and glazed like it but I cannot find it anywhere :( so if anyone can help me out I would be eternally grateful!!

Or if there are any nice chunky/chalky off white or cream pottery plate sets give me a shout!

Hello everyone. As someone else said, we all have our own interpretation of shabby chic /oldy worldy/vintage. Today i went into our local charity shops and found an old style glass lampshade. It may not be spot on for shabby chic but it goes with the older look i am trying to achieve for my kitchen. I have been looking at chandeliers but this looks just as good and at 3 quid , alot cheaper.

My next aim is a large crochet blanket to drape over my settee in my kitchen diner. The ones on ebay go for alot more than i want to pay.
I have three smaller ones of yours, which i have put on a chandelier.I could never find the matching ones for the wall light though and had to settle for a similar pattern in a different shade.

  • triage999 oh i am going to be soooo having kitchen gadget envy soon!!..
i love them.. they always look so stylish aswell as funky..

i bet you cant wait to have your kitchen done can you.. you must take lots of pictures of it once its done..!!

i to am doing up my kitchen over the next couple of weeks but in a completly budget ( we'll get round to doing it properly in about 10yrs!) way!!..
so we can keep each other posted if you want about the progress!!!..

im still loving this thread.. its the first thing i look at in the morning when i log on ..just to see what else has been put on ..

went to a carboot on monday..not a lot there to be honest.. i did buy a big glass biscuit barrel from ikea.. and my mum has got the pasta jar to match so has said i can have that.. so got meself a little set for £1.50!
but that was it . .was gutted.. had taken £10 and intended to spend every last bit but there was nothing there really.. no shabby chicness anyways!!!

Are your whole houses decked out in Shabby Chic? Im thinking of just doing my kitchen (in my non purchased house!) and then the rest in more of a modern look - do you think that will just look odd?

Charley, we can definitely keep each other updated :) My reasoning for a new kitchen was that we are............

    A. Not moving

    B. It is the last room to have something done with it

    C. We have waited 10 years since owning a house to have one

    D. We spend about £150 pm on rubbish so it would go on something worthy instead as I live in my kitchen as it is and entertain regularly.

I will be paying it off over 5 years but then it will be done and dusted! and five years soon speeds by!

    E. We could get run over by a bus tomorrow and never have one :)

It won't look odd at all. I have only done something resembling shabby chic/ retro/ country style in my kitchen because it suits the room. My living room is better suited to darker wood and antiques and my bedroom is French Art Nouveau ish. ;) It's YOUR home so make it how YOU want it. icon7.gif

The thread's moved on a bit. But just wanted to say to Vivw that the dresser came up lovely.

Agree with Haribo too  about doing rooms in certain ways. You don't have to do the whole house. I wouldn't call your bedroom French Art Nouveau HJ :D
What are all the whips and chains on the wall then? I thought it was medieval. :p
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

I snuck a look at all your pics.
    1. I love that window seat ( i think) in the dining room on the wall opposite the dresser
    2. The view from your garden - is that really true? How absolutely wonderful. I have view jealousy!!!!

Thank you for looking at my pictures, I think they are a couple of years old, they were aleady on my computer so that's all I had to show.

The view! yes it is real and you should have seen it at the weekend the spray from the waves was coming over the garden wall, the sea was reallty rough and beautiful to watch. Luckily we are raised up slightly from the promenade, don't know what we'll do if the oceans rise:eek:. I will try to post a photo.

The window seat is in what used to be the kitchen and the kitchen is what used to be my utility room, I must be the only person to change from having a large kitchen to having a smaller one! but I wanted a pine table and a dresser and that was the only way we could do it and the units had been due for renewal anyway. I still just call it all the kitchen though, dining room seems to be too formal a name for it. After being on this site, I want to paint the kitchen units now!
The window seats were put in to hide gas and water pipes that were there along the back wall when it was the kitchen, my husband made them and the cupboards either side. My house is an ongoing project and I love looking at ideas on this site.
