Right girls I need your help!!!!!!

It is my turn to host our weekly dinner party for six girlfriends (one is vegetarian) I would like to incorporate my shabby chic items but have no ideas other than a Tea Party which seems a bit naff to be honest and if I served cucumber sandwiches with crusts off I am sure they would not come again :rotfl: :rotfl:

What can I do??? what foods can I serve? and any ideas for surrounding temporary decor?

    HELP
You could start off with lots of nibbles in pretty bowls.Serve some Pimms or similar from a glass jug.I would serve a lovely homemade soup with crusty bread.Make sure you lay the table with tablecloths and napkins maybe even a few doilies?!
How about a pasta bake of some kind served with salad? You could use your prettiest casserole dish and bring it to the table to serve.Make sure all the condiments are in pretty bowls etc.
Then have some pretty cakestands full of delicious cakes etc.
I think the key is to use all your prettiest china, bowls, cutlery etc and just act like you always do it!

Hi, Right hit the floor running this morning got up real early baked some bread buns, done some ironing and just voted for triage! Phew! now I've sat down for a well earned cuppa I was wondering if any of you clever people would help me decide on my adult sons bedroom colour scheme. He works away a lot so just uses his bedroom here as a base. The bedroom suite is pine so would paint up fine, but like most males he would'nt want the white girly look but I wondered if I still could get a shabbyish look but masculine. The room can be dark as it is North facing. Ta in advance

You could try a New England/Beach Hut theme.

I've tried to find a few pics to help.

    New England Style Blue Bedroom.

    New England Bedding

    Beach House bedding

    Homes by the seashore

    Nautical Bedding

    Nautical Decor.

Edit... Great minds eh Facpainter?

Are your whole houses decked out in Shabby Chic? Im thinking of just doing my kitchen (in my non purchased house!) and then the rest in more of a modern look - do you think that will just look odd?

No my DH would go mental! My kitchen is leaning towards the fifties with red/pink and pale blues.... my lounge is more 1930s with dark wood fireplace and piano and William Morris fabrics... the bedroom is chalky pink and white, not really shabby chic just unfinished! DH would go mad with flowers everywhere to be honest. Unfortunately the majority of my kids are boys or I'd have had more excuse to go mad with it!

We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.

Thank You Facepainter, I looked at that link and love the colours in the porterhouse and the shakerstyle. I'm thinking of pale denim blue and cream with splashes of red ie lampshade, cushions ect. I could make a throw out of old jeans as well I saw instructions some where on line, will google. ta again. Love this thread.

What about tapas? That way you could cover the table with umpteen different dishes of little bits and bobs, fresh bread, cheeses and cold-cuts.

How about something like this (minus all the toys of course!!)

By painting the furniture and the walls white and adding accents of stronger colours like navy blue and reds it would look masculine but still be shabby chic at the same time.It would also be very easy to pretty up when he leaves home...eventually of course!

Being a nosey so-and-so, I had a look at your other piccies. Who is the little one? What a cutie, and what a set of eyelashes - they are so long!!!

The view from your home is lovely, it must be so nice to wake up to it every morning.
Thank you for your post. The cutie is our 10month old grandson, he lives in Australia, we last saw him aged 5 months and we are going over soon for his birthday, he is gorgeous ,but I would say that;), cant wait to squidge his lovely squidgy legs!
