This shabby chic/ country or whatever you want to call it look is obviously catching. OH has told me he is going to build a pine cupboard like frame around our filing cabinets, and then paint it the same colour as my dresser. He says the filing cabinets are spoiling the look of the conservatory........wow......the penny has dropped!!

I've seen a couple of references to glass top tables ... is there a post about them? I must have missed it, though I thought I'd read ALL the posts on this thread! Can someone point me in the right direction please??

    Thanks.

Oh, and btw, I thought I'd post a picture of the pine cabinet that my friend gave me :o) I was going to paint it but it's not orangey pine, it's a lovely old and fabulous quality cabinet and I really like it as it is... great friend!

That looks a lovely cupboard. There is some lovely pine around that isn't orange....we have some in our livingroom and study. Trouble is when photographed it does seem to take on a more orange colour

I love vintage/eclectic but in our small bedroom where we have this computer, we have had fitted furniture in to maximise the space. http://www.flickr.com/photos/imagrannynow/2314738699/ It looks a bit modern but at least it keeps the place tidy, not like before. I have been wanting to "cosy" it up a bit and have seen lots of ideas on here too. So it does help you to look with fresh eyes.

EDIT oh my link hasn't worked, drat! will try again. here it is again

I snuck a look at all your pics.
    1. I love that window seat ( i think) in the dining room on the wall opposite the dresser
    2. The view from your garden - is that really true? How absolutely wonderful. I have view jealousy!!!!

What is it exactly that makes this thread so inspiring? Apart from the money saving element, I think it is to see how real people have been doing such great projects, achieving wonderful results, which are not part of a TV makeover programme or featured in a book.

Thanks again triage999 for starting this thread. Has anyone nominated it for “Thread of the Month”? (I've just done it for March - not sure if it was nominated for February, when it started)

    Long may it continue...

Hello everyone. As someone else said, we all have our own interpretation of shabby chic /oldy worldy/vintage. Today i went into our local charity shops and found an old style glass lampshade. It may not be spot on for shabby chic but it goes with the older look i am trying to achieve for my kitchen. I have been looking at chandeliers but this looks just as good and at 3 quid , alot cheaper.

My next aim is a large crochet blanket to drape over my settee in my kitchen diner. The ones on ebay go for alot more than i want to pay.

Oooo, I really like that lampshade, and it is lovely the way it seems matched to the ceiling rose. I reckon that to be a good find :D

I have a knitted blanket thrown over the sofa, and I think it looks lovely. It is made up of many small knitted squares which range in colour from white through to burgandy with baby pinks and lavenders amongst other colours - I got it for 50p from a charity shop!
