  • icandream - i put my washing up liquid, cloth and washing up brush in a cream plant pot on my window sill.. it keeps it all tidy and looks quite nice.. a bit shabby chic aswell!!

kitzo i love your bench.. you've done a really good job..wel done.. and keep up the good work !!!
  • well just thought id tell you my charity shop buys for today.. a little green and pink flowery butter dish for £1.49 and an enamel biscuit tin in red and green pattern for 50p.. i cant wait to start on my kitchen now and get all the bits and bobs out
ordered my worktops from homebase before.. only getting the oak effect, and with the 10% day plus a ten pound voucher i had from them.. they only cost me £79.98, which is a bit of a difference from the £235 i was going to have to pay from ikea..so chuffed..
they said two weeks so id better get cracking with the painting!!!
  • Its funny because I always thought I liked modern interiors and my house leans to that style but having read this thread I notice I have quite a few shabby chic pieces knocking about. I've always liked white wicker or any wicker really, I love tin and enamel and I have often been seen with a spray can of paint. I am about to decorate my bedroom as I feel it feels a little cold and stark, went to homebase today and found myself opting for blue and cream paints, ordered some cushions from Ebay and also some fabric. So my bedroom will take on the shabby chic feel now!

    Thank you for the inspiration

  • Hmmm - not convinced that localbargainfinder site works. I just found a desk which I really need for DH to study at. Just about to bid as it was ending soon on £11 and luckily realised it's about 300 miles away from me LOL!! I specified within 25 miles!

Been following this from the begining, I have never liked everything matching, and love junk/charity shops.

I painted an LLoyd Loom style ottoman last year as a first attempt, which I'm quite proud of, just wondering what anybody thought of the price of above?
    Can collect

That would clean up beautifully Toozie. Pay whatever you think is a good price. ;) There are loads of singer machines and tables on Ebay atm but they vary hugely in price.

That dresser looks very much like a Jaycee one. If it is, then it is a bargain as they are really good quality, solid wood (oak, I think), and go for a good price usually.

I've just discovered this thread, so excited! It's going to take me a while to read it all from the beginning but wondered if anyone collects vintage Pyrex? I have just started photographing my collection to put on Flickr & here is what I have so far if anyone might be interested...

I am so looking forward to reading about all your projects over Easter :)
Eeeeeeeeeeeh those take me back! I got lots of pyrex for engagement and wedding presents in the seventies. I was a bit careless though as they all have been smashed to bits, one even exploded in the oven:eek: I had the full set of Briarwood casserole dishes and full dinner service. There was a blue square pattern as well. I often recycled them and gave them as presents as we were saving for our first home, see I was moneysaving then, why didnt I keep it up, I'd be better off now.

That singer stand is lovely, and a bargain.

They sell them here, spruced up and with a glasss top for up to 300 euros, which with the abysmal state of the euro works out at about 250 pounds.. so you see how much of a bargain it is!

Oh, I can't wait to move back to the uk!

The Briarwood casserole dishes were only made for a short time too. The pyrex factory in Sunderland closed last year & pyrex is becoming more collectable. LOL I'm afraid to use mine in case they explode! I am looking for a nice tall shelving unit (with glass doors) to paint to keep it all in as I don't have room for a dresser :(
