My QS store has recently changed it's name to store21 (http://www.store21.co.uk/). I got these storage boxes to house all my crafts items, in there last weekend for £1 each:

They had loads of other more "shabby chic" storage boxes there too. They have some lovely stuff and it's all really cheap too.

Yep they had them & some lovely pink semi circular boxes. I was so tempted by a few. I'll go back when I discover some use I can make of them then hubby won't be able to moan lol. I did pick up a bright pink cushion for £2 which I thought was a bargain :) I never used to be able to go upstairs in mine because I had a pushchair heehee now I don't have to worry I can go in whenever I like action-smiley-033.gif.

    Hi Guys,
As it is 10% day at Homebase tomorrow, and encouraged by Icandream's first attempt, I've decided to take the plunge and do my first project!!

PS If you think it is a load of tat that is beyond help, please say as I would prefer honesty rather than waste my time and money trying to make a silk purse out of a sows ear! :D

Wow, I'm so touched that I've inspired anyone! How lovely. :T I've come in after an awful day at work, and there's lots to catch up on, but to start with your lovely things:
I think your kitchen will look stunning in a cream and blue. Stunning. Can't advise on the paints, as haven't got going on my hall yet, but it sounds good.

I've started with the dimity on my sewing box, and I have to say it is a fab colour. I think the mirror would look really good in it. I don't think I'd describe it as beige. It's just a lovely, soft cream. But colour is such a personal thing so it's difficult to advise. So I'd sand, prime (I used a cheap homebase primer and undercoater in one), and the oil based eggshell.
The lamp will look good with this as well, and personally I'd be inclined to wrap a piece of lace around the shade to shabby it up, but that may not be your thing.
And the stool is good too - I don't see any of this as tat. Just great candidates for a fun and very fruitful painting job. My sewing box is beginning to look so lovely. Can't wait to line it and get on to my hall cupboards. It's great to revive these things.
Now, I'm going to grab a rather large glass of wine and catch up with the rest of you lovely peeps. x

Barnstaple. Next to the alleyway that leads to the bus station - opposite the sweet, toy & model shop (can't think of it's name).
