Hi Shelley, that's a shame. I have just gone back to your original post about these mirrors as I thought I'd seen the seller saying they were away between certain dates but it wasn't your sellers. Must've been another link to something that I saw it on. Maybe it could explain their lack of communication though:confused: .
Does Ebay not hold a telephone number for them? Try requesting their details, if they have registered a phone number give them a call. Hope you get your mirrors soon.

This happened to me once when I bought a lampshade. I contacted ebay and it turned out that the seller had gone away for a while and forgotten about the sale. Turned out well in the end. I would contact ebay, you shouldn't have to wait so long to be contacted.

    Hi Guys,
As it is 10% day at Homebase tomorrow, and encouraged by Icandream's first attempt, I've decided to take the plunge and do my first project!!

Need to ask some questions please, if I may?

Firstly, I want to paint my kitchen. I collect T G Green Cornishware (you know the blue and white striped stuff?) so was thinking of F&B Lulworth Blue for the walls. It looks quite a fresh blue but warm too. Has anyone used this please? The Cook's Blue IS a better match but I think it will be too dark.
Now do I get State Emulsion for this please?

I have also decided to shabby chic an old mirror we have. We were given it secondhand when we moved in together in 1991, as a temporary mirror, and yes we still use it! I don't like it, but it serves its purpose. I have never found a mirror I love so I stuck with this old thing hidden behind the door until I could find the perfect mirror.
Now do I just need to give it a quick sand, prime and then paint?
Any particular primer? Which paint please? Oil based eggshell or water based? I'd like a matt finish preferably.

I want it cream as my bedroom is a sort of yellow straw colour.
I was thinking of Pointing. I know a lot of you use Dimity but that looks more beige than cream, but experts please put me right on this!

I also have a lamp base that was about to go to the charity shop but thought with a lick of paint and a new shade it is salvageable.

    P1000409-1.jpgP1000410.jpg

Finally an old stool. Yes, I know its not the most attractive piece of furniture but it is not on show and I use it for reaching high places, etc as I am short. Years ago we stained it mahogany but I thought I could paint this too so it is less of an eyesore when I use it!

    P1000405-1.jpgP1000407-1.jpg

I want to paint the mirror, lamp and stool the same colour, so suggestions please. Also would an oil based egg shell wear off the stool when I stand on it?

Apologises for the dust shown! :rotfl:

Sorry for the long post, but as I said I am a SC virgin! :o

PS If you think it is a load of tat that is beyond help, please say as I would prefer honesty rather than waste my time and money trying to make a silk purse out of a sows ear! :D

    Many thanks.

    Hi

I've been reading this thread with interest over the last few days. You lot are going to get me in trouble with DH, especially as his style is as far away from Shabby chic as you can get. I have just spotted this on ebay.

Farrow & Ball's Estate Emulsion is a matt chalky finish so might not be practical for a kitchen, they do a Modern Emulsion in the colours and that might be better. There is someone on here who is a F&B fanatic and I am sure she will be along soon;) she knows who she is:p

Also I am always wary of trying to exactly match the background colour to the things in the kitchen such as your cornishware, might it not be better to let your bits and pieces be the colour part of the kitchen and have a neutral shade on the walls. My opinion only and if you knew me , it's kinda rich coming from me! who has to be hand held through interior decorating:o

Thanks. I know what you mean about colour matching, but at the moment my kitchen units are cream, my cooker is cream, tongue and groove cream and tiles behind cooker also cream! The walls are also currently cream and I think it looks a bit bland. I thought as the Lulworth Blue is lighter than the Cornishware it *might* compliment it.

Is the modern emulsion like silk though? I live in an old cottage so we are avoiding silk as it looks "sweaty" in here if that makes sense! :o
