Mollymop5 - that cupboard is gorgeous. I hope you get it.

I got mine today too. I also got the wallpaper samples I ordered and I have to say I'm not that impressed with them actually. They looked better on screen and some of the colours look different to how they'd appeared on screen.

With regards to my patchwork wallpaper canvas - The creases/bubbles have nearly all gone. I have added some ribbon to it and I think it looks much better.

I also covered a shoebox with some of the wallpaper I bought.

Wow that looks good Kisto! The ribbons really finishes it off well! :T

Any idea which room it is going in?

Thanks. I know what you mean about colour matching, but at the moment my kitchen units are cream, my cooker is cream, tongue and groove cream and tiles behind cooker also cream! The walls are also currently cream and I think it looks a bit bland. I thought as the Lulworth Blue is lighter than the Cornishware it *might* compliment it.

Is the modern emulsion like silk though? I live in an old cottage so we are avoiding silk as it looks "sweaty" in here if that makes sense! :o

No, it is not like silk it has a low sheen content, just go to their website and have a look. It has a 10% sheen level as opposed the the 2% of its' other paint. But you had better check, maybe get a sample.

You like cream then;). You go with whatever you think looks good and if that be the blue, well, there are no hard and fast rules. ( listen to me! you think I knew about stuff:rolleyes: )
  • Hi Guys,
As it is 10% day at Homebase tomorrow, and encouraged by Icandream's first attempt, I've decided to take the plunge and do my first project!!

Need to ask some questions please, if I may?

Firstly, I want to paint my kitchen. I collect T G Green Cornishware (you know the blue and white striped stuff?) so was thinking of F&B Lulworth Blue for the walls. It looks quite a fresh blue but warm too. Has anyone used this please? The Cook's Blue IS a better match but I think it will be too dark.
Now do I get State Emulsion for this please?

I want to paint the mirror, lamp and stool the same colour, so suggestions please. Also would an oil based egg shell wear off the stool when I stand on

PS If you think it is a load of tat that is beyond help, please say as I would prefer honesty rather than waste my time and money trying to make a silk purse out of a sows ear! :D

    Many thanks.
    CF xx
I read somewhere recently that F+B Chinese Blue is a good background for Cornish Ware but it is a darker blue aswell.Soemtimes you need a little contrast rather than a perfect match anyway so if you like Lulworth Blue than go for it.As it's in your kitchen I would probably go for their Modern Emulsion not the Estate Emulsion.I've never used it but it's supposed to be more durable.
I know that I've said before but I do love Dimity. It's not beige at all but a warm off white. There are plenty of other lovely colours too not just in the F+B range either.
I think that all your pieces would look lovely painted. The stool should be fine using eggshell as long as you prepare it well.To be honest though a little scuffing does add to the shabby chic appeal.

I am slowly getting the dresser painted that i showed in one of my other posts. My hubby brought home a pine top part of a unit , and i am now wondering whether i should paint that white to add to the bottom part which is completed.

    Hi

I've been reading this thread with interest over the last few days. You lot are going to get me in trouble with DH, especially as his style is as far away from Shabby chic as you can get. I have just spotted this on ebay.

thats gorgeous, I would love one of those..... are you going to go for it?

I'm so excited as OH has just left to go and collect my dresser I 'won' on ebay last weekend. Also my F & B paint chart arrived today and I'm trying to decide whether to paint it cream or green. I really can't make up my mind.
We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.
