I can't get enough of this thread - everyone is so clever - I am still just a looker and dreamer!!

Ideal Home magazine is quite shabby chic this month - probably full of people from this thread!!

I really must do something rather than just reading about it - once again great thread

Ooh look what I found in the charity shop for ..... £3!!! It's a little sewing box - the top opens and then there's a little drawer at the bottom.

This picture was taken just before I began priming it. It's not finished yet, but will take another when I'm done!

I have a sewing box like this but it has 2 drawers and my Grandad made it for my mum.I love it but couldn't possibly paint mine as I'd feel terrible but I do plan to re do the linings inside.Good luck with yours:)

Molly, if you search on ebay for one and specify the distance (on the left hand menu) you can then save this search and ebay will email you if one comes up. That's how I managed to get my kitchen sofa. ;)

I agree - so many brilliant ideas here. :T

I'm madly making notes (and stealing some pics) for future and I have so much that I'm going to have to start a separate folder for it all; I'm hoping to use some of these ideas when I move.

(I've already shabby chic'd my bedroom furniture but sadly only in my head so far!!) :D
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

They look quite glossy. You would need to sand them down very well and then prime them before painting. Might be better off trying to get some untreated ones (and probably cheaper too). also could be wrth asking on freecycle if anyone has a set in the garage somewhere. I have a fab set from freecycle. solid oak but really battered and look gorgeous now in Antique white :)
