My DD tries to do her homework while kneeling at the coffee table so I have been looking for one of these for the past few days. This one will be sanded tomorrow and then painted and put in her room.

VP...that's where my cat gets too when she's on her travels eh? Yours is identical to mine.

Love that desk and very practical for keeping her notes and things in.

Has anyone else got Essentials Magazine April issue?

They have a piece on painting furniture white and covering boxes in fabric. They also have a peg board for tea towels made exactly the same way I did mine. I wonder if this thread is being "watched". :D

Hmmm - I have to say that I'm slightly in shock that 214 people have seen my wall since I posted it on flickr last night! Scary - I'd expected 10 or 20! So, yes, I'd say so. But that's great, if it's inspiring lots of people to try things. The thread worked its magic for me.

Poppet: I love the desk idea. I'm old enough to have had a desk just like this when I first started school. Gosh, that brings back memories. Are you going to paint this?

This thread is addictive lol. As yet I still have any shabby chicing (you know what I mean) to do but painting bedrooms & hallways & kitchens has taken over for now. I did however go for a nice lilac in the kitchen to go with my lovely pink retro housekeeper tin, pink storage jars & pink casserole dishes (which will somehow end up on display lol).
I'm so excited about the prospect of getting hte house sorted.
I would love a welsh dresser but I think hubby would go nuts. We have about 13 cupboards in the kitchen lol so not like we should (we are somehow) be lacking in storage.. Must go through & sort them so I can have a wonderful completed house.
Keep chatting though I'm loving the ideas :D
    Hugs

We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.

    ?

I wasn't knocking it. I've been inspired by some pics on here too and I would love to think someone has looked at the pics of my home and liked something enough to try it themselves. I was just pointing it out. I don't really think a magazine copied my idea. It was a very simple one and has probably been done by thousands. I'm not that clever!!

Not entirely unlikely!! On the Simplifying thread yesterday a poster gave a link to a website but remarked that it was almost illegible because of the bad choice of colours - burgundy text against a dark blue background - and by the time I got to the website the colour of the text had changed to white :D

ps and this thread has been viewed over 78,000 times!!

Yes, I intend to paint it for her. I can't wait to start sanding it tomorrow although my eldest DS as said he wants to do it. Maybe I'll see what the weather is like first. If it's cold he can go in the garage while I stay indoors!:rotfl: The painting is going to be all down to me though.

Sorry Haribo - I really didn't mean to suggest you were knocking it and apologies if it came across that way. I just feel slightly nervous about posting on flickr as it's a new thing for me!
And from what I've seen, you have a really good eye. I love your posts. x

While my middle daughter was away, the other two were helping with the wall. It was great fun, and a real team effort. Tonight we were all sitting on the bed and they were all pointing excitedly at which bit they did. It's great to share jobs like this.
